laptop Keyboard problem - I can not make a capital m,j,k,i or < with left shift key. Answered

I have an acer keyboard and the computer was opened to repair the speaker output. I did not do the repair and I wasn't present when it was done. Now several keys will not work with the left shift key. The m key does not work with either shift key. When I use the left shift key on with these keys nothing happens. The only way to make a capital m, is to use the caps lock key.  Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this. Buying a new computer is not an option. By the way, the original speaker repair sounded good for only one day.

water could have damaged it, if you can't fix it by reinserting the ribbon cable then you have to pretty much take the whole computer apart to fix the keyboard. Or just get a usb one.

The ribbon cable has been checked and reconnected, it is fine.

download a live linux usb. If the keyboard works with linux then you know its a software issue. If you have same problem then you know its the keyboard.

Fixing the keyboard on laptops can be a pain.

Use the right shift or get a USB keyboard I have a KEYS U SEE keyboard I use because of my eyesight and it works well.

I was hoping to fix the problem. But, if I can not fix it, the keys u see looks really good- I have vision problems too.
Thanks

The keyboard is connected by a small ribbon cable. Sometimes they don't get it back in all the way when they reconnect it. Most keyboards are held in place by small clips that slide back with noting more than a knife. Lift the keyboard and disconnect and reconnect the ribbon. That should fix it. If not and the board is actually broken look for a replacement on E bay. Someone with a dead notebook might be selling off the parts that are left over.

it isn't the ribbon cable. I have seen some stuff online suggesting that it might be a software problem.
