recharging the battery in a polaroid type600 film pack Answered

Anybody know how to recharge the 6v polapulse battery in a polaroid 600 film pack? I'm trying to rig the whole camera up to a dslr body (essentially replace the "film capture" with digital) and fire the shutter on the 600 camera. Apparently, you can't fire the shutter without juice, and from what I understand, the 600 film battery only holds enough juice to fire 10 frames, the length of one film pack. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Maybe rigging up 6v worth of juice and connecting that to the camera itself?

i have a similar problem, i brought out my dads old polaroid and kept crying about not having film, only dicovering that tonight we still have a full pack left but the battery is dead and i dont want $50 to go down the drain

 Hello , I have tried using 6 , 1.5 Volt batteries and wired them to the connectors in the film holder and yes the camera worked fine the flash went off and the motors got set off

I got a an Impulse with 6 frames in it, in perfect condition, but I don't want to damage my camera... Do you think your technique would work? :)

You'd need a ()-ing big CCD to convert a Polaroid, or trying to use the Polaroid format isn't really appropriate. If you've got a DSLR or what reason do you want to involve the Polaroid? L

Oh I know I can't hope to "digitize" the polaroid- I just want to zombie-fy it so as to salvage the lens, "bellows", shutter and viewfinder. Just for s&g.; thx though

Good answer. If the power is just to fire the shutter, you could fill the film-tray with AAs I suppose? L

The battery is essentially alkaline or carbon/zinc and thus not rechargeable. They're also good for a lot more than 10 frames; I used to have a collection of batteries from used-up packs, and they all had a lot of juice left. A regular 6V supply should work OK, but be aware that the film pack batteries provided a lot of current capability. They would do 10A+ when short circuited, which was a LOT "back in the day" (not so impressive compared to modern rechargables, though.) They were expected to run the camera flash, all the electronics, and some pretty substantial motors used to flip mirrors and eject the film. I'm not sure how much current the camera would require with the motors disconnected...
