The "embed code" is a block of HTML which is embedded in the page-source and creates the video object in doing so. It needs to be obtained from a site already hosting the video, because the "embed code" points back to that site.
For e.g. YouTube, see picture - copy the code, paste it where it is asked for.

If I want to embed a Logo image into my emails that I send out, does it have to be somewhere on the web to "point to it?" Can I keep it only on my computer and it still be active?

<iframe width="650" height="350" src="http://www.freeriderhd.com/game/148086-rocky-mountain-climbing?embedded=true" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen style="border: 1px solid #000;" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Where were you uploading from/to? And what is "it" that gave you the message?

An Embed code is like a URL that you have to paste into some web interfaces to insert a video. Where to find it and what to do with it will vary depending on what you're trying to do.

Good luck. See lemonie's reply for where to find the embed code on YouTube. Other video sites will have it available somewhere as well.
