what is a good gear ratio for a 6.5hp quad type of thing? Answered

i want to be able to really accelerate but still go pretty fast like to be able to go faster than 30mph its going to be a 6.5hp engine and on a mix of a go kart and a atv quad so overall weight including person about 250lbs. please help on what the gear ratio should be and im pretty sure it has a 10 tooth or 11 tooth clutch

its not possible, try taking a cvt off of a scooter

what exactly is a cvt and i dont have a scooter or a junkyard to go to so i have to buy stuff new or from ebay and money is tight

its a continuisly variable transmission-found in snowmoibles, some four wheelers and some scooters, even in cars. it uses 2 clutches that act like pullies, but move changing gear ratios. my suggestion is to use a ratio built more towards torque.

isn't that the same thing as a torque converter or is there a difference

i dont know how a torque converter works but i know both are 2 completely different things

Some gears would be useful.
If this is 50cc you'll be really lucky to get 30mph, gearbox or v-matic-type CVT is what you want.

its 100 something cc's and i want just one gear for price and such

You can't have "really accelerate but still go pretty fast" with a fixed-ratio gearing. What did the engine come out of, and is it a manual or automatic clutch?

automatic clutch and its a new motor 6.5hp honda clone

it also has 13 inch tires what im trying to make is a gas version of this..
