Does it happen with nothing plugged into it, what is plugged into it right now?
i tried just conecting power to it and it still just turns the protect on

. Depending on the amp, this could be caused by a lot of things. High temperature detected, load impedance too low, &c.;
. If disconnecting the speakers and setting all volumes at minimum won't clear the fault, you'll probably have to do some electronic work (eg, replace an RTD or T/C).
. Hard to tell without knowing more about the equipment.
. If you don't have the users manual, see if you can find it online.
