Introduction: Visual Car Tunning (vw Golf 3)

Once a time, I decided to change something in my car - gorgeous VW Golf III (1995). Lot of old cars with sunroof have problems with water that damages headliner. The fabric come off and bruise become visible. It really destroys all the charm of driving, so I needed to do something with it.

Step 1: Taking Apart

First, you should look for instructions, because we don't want to damage any of the components during montage. It is useful to also look for tips on car forums on the Internet.

The next step is removal of the headliner. Carefully remove all the plastic parts that hold the headliner and unscrew all the screws. Take off the cover of the sunroof too. You can wash and clean all the parts, so as not to muddy the headliner during montage - it will also have the visual benefit.

Step 2: Prepare

Now we need to remove old fabric from the headliner and sunroof cover. It comes off pretty easy, but you need to be carfeull. The material from Which it is made (I guess it's fiberglass) can easly brake apart.

Next remove all the remains of fiber and use sandpaper (glue holds better to the rough surface).

Step 3: Re-make

Prepare your working place. You need to have special glue (Bonaterm), brush, scisors, razor blades, knive and pressure roller. Buy fabric in the color which you want. I bought black one.

Apply glue on fabric and headliner with brush. Then put the fabric on headliner and press. Leave it to dry. After two days cut the fabric to size of headliner and cut all the holes.

Step 4: Montage

Take all the parts, mount them and you have your result - brand new (looking) car. You can buy new seat covers and car caps, to get better effect. Enjoy!
