Creating a handheld Emp device

Has anyone been able to create medium sized nonexplosive EMP generator? i recently purchased 4 oil capacitors each rated around 5.5KVDC and 32uF, from what i have learned, in order to create an EMP generator, you would need a to feed it a large amount of power in to  a heavy gauge magnetic coil. I believe my caps could do the trick. I will be charging them with a  ZVS driver coupled to a self wound ferrite transformer, then rectified. As for discharging i' will probably use a mechanical spark gap. I am hoping to create something like the shock pulse generators in, does my setup look feasible ?

How do I convert an AC device to run on a battery pack?

I have a device that runs on ac (110-120 Vac - 180w). I want to make it portable so that it can run off a battery pack such as AA or 9 Volt or even a custom battery. Is this too much of a power requirement to make it possible??? thanks in advance for your help.

Device Worn on Tongue Allows the Blind to See

For the past 10 years researchers at the University of Wisconsin have been working on making a device that delivers censorial input to the tongue via a matrix of electrodes worn inside the mouth. Using a camera, a computer, and the input device, individuals who have been blind their whole lives are now able to use this relatively simple and non-invasive device to see basic images. Applications for this technology range far and wide, not to mention all the awesome ideas for Instructables that come to mind. More info from the research page...What we have developed is a generic and flexible way to communicate information to people using an array or matrix of small electric stimulators on the surface of the tongue. In much the same way that people can use their fingertips to read Braille letters, which are patterns of raised dots embossed onto a sheet of paper, people can recognize simple spatial patterns using comfortable electrical stimulation of the tongue. For example, we published a preliminary study about two years ago showing that volunteer experimental test subjects could identify very simple geometric patterns such as circles, squares, and triangles. They identified these figures as accurately on the tongue as on the fingertips. And that's when we became excited about the possibilities for a tongue-based electrotactile display, electrotactile being the technical term for electrical stimulation of the sense of touch.The electrical stimulus on the tongue feels like a tingle or vibration; some users have said it feels like soda bubbles. The sensation is well-controlled and not painful unless the user deliberately turns up the level too high. Occasionally it will produce weak metallic taste sensations, a minor side effect. We have never observed any kind of tissue irritation with the gold-plated electrodes.1. One of the applications which has been commercialized is providing vestibular or balance information for people with balance disorders. This is a simple form of sensory substitution, in which the tongue is used to present information from an artificial balance sensor.2. Another application is providing directional or navigational information for people who operate under central command and control scenarios, such as military and civilian rescue personnel. Providing information via the tongue allows them to fully use their vision and hearing to respond to unforeseen threats or hazards. We have shown in the laboratory that it is possible to navigate a virtual maze (like a simple video game) using only information received on the tongue (i.e., buzz on right side of tongue means turn right, etc.).3. A third, more ambitious application would be providing very crude visual information through the tongue for persons who are completely blind. Our colleague Eliana Sampaio at the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France has used our tongue stimulator with a small video camera and demonstrated an equivalent visual acuity of about 20-to-830, which is very poor vision, but possibly useful for certain limited activities with enough practice. Wicab, Inc continues to improve this technology with the aim of commercializing it.4. A fourth application would be providing tactile feedback to the human operators of robots used for various tasks. Why "Vortex" for Vortex math and devices?

If you are new to the topic then it might give you a slightly quicker understanding than watching hours of youtube videos.I assume you have seen these various coils that make a sphere shaped magnet spin at insane speeds.They are a good start.You see by normal understanding these Rodin or Vortex coils should not be able to produce a field that rotates that fast.As with a lot of things we tried to use math to explain it in theory and than adjusted the math to match it.Vortex math was born.So how do you explain blue and red to a blind person that never saw anything?I mean in a way they actually know how it would look if they could see?Doesn't work, but we can use a Dyson vacuum cleaner ;)A lot of "tornados" add up to one giant super tornado.Spinning so fast that "all" the dirst stays behind and only clean air comes out.As in nature all the weather cells add up to one that is more powerful than the combined single ones.The tornados that form the term vortex are around the coils.But also around the entire donut as well as every single strand of wire.In any good vortex the rotational speed increases towards the center and bottom of the vortex.You can try that with some floating stuff when you drain your bathtub or sink.Try to imagine and endless tornado that runs around every wire like a spiral.The coil itself adds another spin vector to it and increases the moving speed or the single tornado.Combined it adds up to a very strong tornadoe moving very fast around in the coil pack.As this also creates a rotating field like another tornado in the donut shape it all gets twisted up.Physics as we know it won't fully explain these effects.Vortex devices that produce electricity are usually coils in a special winding configuration and pattern.Like we try to eliminate certain things with basket coils in the HF area a Rodin or Vortex coil tries to utlise these otherwise unwanted stray effects and interferences.Overunity is another term people like to use here but I leave it up to you if such a things is phsically possible with an electrical system.Vortex math tries to explain all these things demonstrated in experiments.However I found two slight flaws in the common approch.1. Only two dimension used.Unlike the coils the simplified Vortex math only operates in two dimensions.A circle instead of a sphere if you like.2. Again, unlike the coil harmony and resonance are neglected.It seems in some cases people try to draw a circle just with straight lines.While in reality you have a never ending, resonant "stream" in three or to be precise four dimensions.Is it the chicken and egg problem?Yes and no.You can only calculate something if you can fully understand it or exactly replicate it in reality.Vortex coils are just way to interpret theories and get some sort of results.And those results are the real problem.We can measure magnatic fields in strenght and direction even frequency.However we can neither make them visible in real time not measure mixed or entangled fields properly.We "see" Mars is our "red planet" but in reality it just the atmosphere, the surface is not red at all in most places.NASA has enough problems to calculated missions to outer space with enough accuracy.Just imagine they would have to do it while considering that around every path our planets make is another spinning "distraction"....That is exactly what Vortex math tries to do while eliminating common math bit by bit.You can see and hear in 3 dimensions.Maybe you are also good in drawing something in 3D on your compterscreen or 3D headset.But how many here could predict the path of a baseball in 3D like they do when watching a game?Depending on your viewing angle you might be way off....Try to know or calculate where exactly the ball is at any given monet in time and how fast it spins in which direction.....Our brains are not trained to think like this!Even if we construct things like a dome we prefer to have straight features.Sure manufacturing is one thing that needs to be affordable.But try to just calculate the support structure if all is actually fully round like a sphere should be.We avoid what is considered higher dimensions as much we can.To calculate a distance in 3D it still seems easier to use two 2D models to add up instead of true vectors.Again only through technology like computer we are able to simulate, understand and actually calculate what we need.Where we ventured around the globe and into our solar system our math was left behind.Finding workaround and good enough approximations still seems the way to go.Instead actually evolving our math to our needs we just add more and more complex formulas and calculations.To fully understand vortex math you need to let go and start thinking in 4 dimensions instead of just 2.Oh, sorry, you might be new to this...Number 4 is time of course.

device that applies braking force proportional to speed?

Hi, I'm helping a team of students make a brake-assist device for a two-wheeled walker.  We were wondering if there are mechanical brakes out there that apply a force proportional to the speed.  A circular damper, is how we would describe it, I think.  Or something like a gas shock (the things on screen doors and car trunks) but with a circular motion rather than a linear stroke.  Anyone have any ideas?  Anything that's commercially available, small, and somewhat inexpensive is fair game.  Bonus points for things that can be made by hand..  Thanks!

Any ideas or advice for a Rube Goldberg Device?

I need to construct a "Rube Goldberg apparatus that must incorporate a minimum of 5 different types of the six simple machines, and only one energy input to start the apparatus. It must actually accomplish a task. " My creative abilities are to say the least lacking. Do you have any ideas as to what I can do? Any websites you think would help? Heat storage device for car cabin heater

I want to increase the heat storage capacity of the existing car heater so that I can run the heater (just the fan and a liquid pump) while the engine is off and so I can have a warm car as soon as I start on a cold day. The current heat storage is the coolant circulating in the engine. I want to increase the capacity of that. Instead of simply attaching a liquid reservoir to the heater circuit (to increase the coolant volume), I was considering using a picnic cooler (insulated) box with a coper tube coiled in it. The box would be filled with oil and paraffin. Paraffin melts ≈ 40° C  and I can take advantage of the latent heat of fusion when the paraffin changes phase. The oil is a medium to suspend the paraffin. I need a recommendation of an electric 12 volt pump to circulate the fluid. I request any other thoughts or criticisms.

Using an inkjet print head on a CnC device.

Ive had a bright idea that in short requires me to mount an inkject on a 3d printer of sorts for printing on a complex shape. Ive only done some cursory searching, but not found a "here is how to drive the inkjet" or "We recommend this model" for my purposes. Im toying with the idea of just ripping up a standard printer and seeing how well I can reconfigure that to my purposes, but I don't think it will do quite what I am looking for (in addition to the X and Y axis, there will need to be a Z, and in the eventual build probably a sensing mechanism to detect the shape it is printing on (im imagining a projected grid, but that is a ways down the line)). I'm going to have to learn a good bit of methodology to write the needed code, which is going to be a blast. But the starting point will be just the x & y coordinates and a DIY mounting of the print head.Any advice out there?I may build it out eventually on a raspberry pi but I haven't gotten that far as getting the mechanics working by feeding input to an Arduino for an almost etch a sketch mode will be my starting point.

Why is almost every free energy video you find a hoax or fake?

The term "free energy" is used both ways by us.What comes from wind, solar or water power is considered free energy.Also everything claiming to produce energy from nothing is considered free energy.Speaking of hoaxes and fakes now is a bit like comparing appels to tomatoes.For me it more like those stage magicians: It all looks real and impossible but they do it, so it must be real.If you really need to brag about your free energy device but are unable to sell a working model to interested people it at least means you are not a scammer.Several people play the game of exposing fakes.And if include this in your search then you get an idea about the amount of fakes or magically illusions out there.The internet is often abused to change opinions or make people do things they usually wouldn't do.Even if it is as simple as clicking on a suggested link for the next video.Patents can disappear or with enough money you can buy them off the inventor.One reason why more and more companies develop in secrecy and without ever applying for any patents - check the swiss army knife ;)There are no conspiracies involving "free energy" but imagine it would be the case...There currently is nothing that would actually allow you to produce enough electricity for your family all year round.At least not if you want to avoid several wind and water turbines and all possible areas covered with solar cells.If you would somehow make a device that produces more output than input (even if it uses up some form of stored energy like magnets) then how would you present it to the world??Could you take the abuse of literally everyone around you calling you a scammer?You know better, so you allow it to be tested - really??Unless you provide all details and open all up you would still be called a scammer.Someone offers you a lot of money to take the thing and have your assurance to never talk about it or invent something similar - suddenly not that impossible to think of...But what if there is no offer but threats instead?A nice show on the internet keeps you safe and allows the sceptics to brag how it is faked.What better way then to make sure there are tons of videos that show similar constructions that clearly can't work? ;)As with every good story there is always a bit of truth somewhere.Over 80 years ago people made magnetmotors that worked.Look it up and check their patents.Most of the fakes we see today are based on the same 4 or 5 machines from back then ;)Our modern life would not be possible without the inventions Tesla made.Still, basically all of his inventions that did not find public use are still considered bogus.How can one of the smartest man of that time have hundrets of used and recognised patents while those using them claim all the rest is useless and fake?Getting energy they can sell was fine.Allowing that everyone can generate all the electricity needed themself not so much.A free generator that everyone can build would never see a meter and you could not force people to put one on either.With unlimited money available those behind electricity, oil, gas and coal will always make sure that anything even just getting close to it will disappear.The internet changed this as now everyone can provide plans, videos and even all required parts if needed.Making someone or something disappear in Africa or Indonesia is easy, doing so with someone who has actual family, a job and lots of friends not so much.Money and contracts are the next best thing then...Remember the hype about Vortex energy a few years back?Videos claiming to have a vortex thingy producing more energy than what is used everywhere.Now in some regions vortex math is actually something people study.And with this the new videos about vortex based free energy devices went down to almost zero.Nothing new anymore that was not shown already.If you study a bit what Tesla did for students and teachers you will find a lot of similarities between his math and the new area of vortex math.But where those vortex guys use our modern math, limited constants and sequences, Tesla actually include all that was known at the time in his math.Like with scientology you have to work your way up the ranks in the vortex world.A lot of things you can only understand by confirming it in experiments, other stuff you will only get know when attending seminars.If you just get together what you find online and try to understand it then try again with a printout of Tesla's circle of math next to it.Knowledge is out there that we just fail to acknowledge or even try to explain if we see it.Just take ancient building skills.We know they did it because their monuments still exist today.But we would utterly fail to replicate this with our modern technology.Let alone with the tools claimed to be available at the time.....Levitation through sound was deemed to be impossible.Then one day we invented powerful ultrasonic speakers and it worked anyway.So how many real "free energy devices" are out there?How knows if it is one, a few or thausands.Same for all the websites and videos out there.After a while you learn how to spot the fakes quickly.Then you still find some videos where you fail to find the hidden battery or motor or power connection.In the end you are left with the same 4 or 5 possible types claimed to have worked almost hundred years ago.Eliminate the bogus and incomplete then there is still some left....It does not mean any of it actually works...That is if you exclude those few companies selling things like magnetmotor generators for a few years now.Going faster than a certain speed would kill you - then we moved on from steam engines.It will never be possible to use the power of the atom to produce electricity - we got nuclear reactors anyway.Now we even try to make fusion generators feasable...So ask yourself if all "free energy" bogus really is just bogus...We know life must exist on other planets outside out solar system but we still could not accept if this life would be more advanced or civilised than we are...Yet we feel the need "to go out there"...Where does Instructables come into play?Take the dare and provide a well documented Instructable that allows anyone to replicate your "free energy device".No solar cells or electric generators please, only stuff that should exist or work.If you don't speak or write english then use some translator and people here will help to properly translate it.The big community here will jump on it, find the hoax behind it and tear it apart.However if they can't then someone will build it to show that it can't actually work.Then imagine the surprise if "I made it!" starts to be clicked more and more...No one could stop the progess or hide it then ;)Of course we all know that nobody will ever post such an Instructable, don't we?Keep in mind that the scam behind "free energy" might just be result of too many scammers...

I have 3 devices under my car connected to my exhaust, but I dont know what they are or what to do about them?

I have 3 devices under my car connected to the exhaust system. Im unsure about what they are, what I can do about them, or how I can modify these to make the car louder,lighter,and less restricted. The car is not broken and doesnt need repair, this is about modding it. My biggest concern is the last device (3rd picture), because it is big, and most likely heavy. I know the exhaust system will restrict the engine, I also know that the exhaust system has a muffler and a catalytic converter. So my question is   What is this device in the back? How can it be removed/bypassed/replaced/modified to be louder lighter and less restricting? And if I cant do anything with it, what can I do? (the devices are in order from closest to engine to farthest)

How to Power an AC device using DC- from an outlet

I have a heating pad (Sunbeam, the kind of pad used for muscle aches etc.) that plugs into the wall (110v AC). It says on the pad that it draws 42watts. For various reasons, I'd like to have the heat generated by a DC source rather than AC.I'm thinking maybe there is a way for me to plug some kind of converter into the wall (AC to DC) and then plug the heating pad into this which will still result in heat. I have no idea if this is possible. The pad has a switch for three different heat settings.Can I do this? How?Thanks for any suggestions!

The main purpose of this Project is that to design a system that convert the mechanical energy harvested from human motion into electrical energy.This project report contains the complete literature review and implementation of an alternative to electrical power supplied by batteries for portable electronic devices and for computerized and motorized prosthetics. The report presents the idea to generate power harvesting from human motion. Electrical devices have been liberated from the wall socket. Battery powered computers, phones and music devices come along everywhere we go. The limiting factor is electricity. In the end the battery always goes dead. Ironically, when we move around with our portable devices we produce a lot of energy. But a lot of this energy is lost as heat. If that mechanical energy could be converted into electricity, our very mobility could charge our mobile devices. Using the working principal of dynamo, we intend to generate a small power which then can be used to charge the portable devices. We are charging mobile battery for testing purpose.

Need help designing a current limiting circuit for a DC powered device.

What would the simplest and most energy efficient circuit be to limit the current from a DC transformer?  I have several 12-15VDC plug-in transformers that deliver between 800-1000mA, but a device I need to power requires 12-15VDC at 350mA MAX.  Any thoughts, help, or advice would be appreciated!

How to make your own fat optical fiber for solar device?

I'm prototyping a solar energy device, and need to transport a concentrated light beam a couple of meters without loss or, ideally, burning anyone's hand off. I was thinking of some kind of 'total internal reflection' medium, such as glass, but it needs to be cheap and easy to make/find, and it would be great if it had at least a little flexibility. Is there any way to make your own? Some kind of gel, or crystal, or maybe water if it wouldn't attenuate or absorb too much of the energy? Failing that, is there some existing material I could wrench out the back of something? Cheers, Daniel.

How to build a reel-to-reel tape device which handles photos?

I want to make a physical interface for selecting a picture. I will have a band of something which has little 1" plastic pockets on it.  Each pocket will contain a small photo of a person. The band would be somehow attached to spools which would rotate via servos. So the user presses a button to advance the spool one spot, and a new picture comes in the front. I don't care if the pictures get a little bit bent, but they shouldn't get destroyed. Let's assume the entire device is about 5" across, so two spools taking up an inch or so each, some space on the sides and one picture showing in the middle. Just having two spools and a band which connects to itself is easy enough I think if it is the right length, but ideally, I'd like to store more images than can fit across 5" in the front and 5" in the back... so it would be something like an old tape machine. (i.e. the pictures wrap around a spool). I have no idea how to accomplish this :)  I'm guessing the band would have to attach to the spool on each side... Any hints? Links? gotchas? THanks!!

How can I create a shirt clip for my digital voice recorder? Answered

Hello, Instructables community! I have a digital voice recorder. It doesn't come with a shirt clip. Thus, if if I put the DVR in my pocket, it will be sliding and may fall to its side (the item is not very tall). How can I create a shirt clip so that I can keep the recorder standing up in my pocket? See first image. The silver device on the right has the shirt clip. The size of the device on the left (Sony) is 4.5 x 1.5 x 0.8 inches. Unfortunately, the device that I bought does not have a shirt clip.  My device is 4.3 x 1.5 x 0.7 inches. I've attached four photos of my device. It's the one with a face that is black on top and silver on the bottom. Preferably, I want a shirt-clip that won't leave any marks on the recorder. HAARP mind control?

Allegations have been made that the HAARP project is behind mind control experiments. The ex governor Jesse Ventura, interviewed a professor who demonstrated in his show that it is possible to send messages to people's minds without any need for hearing. The professor put two piezoelectric transducers on Ventura's chin and Ventura claimed to be able to "hear" music in his brain. Real science or pseudoscience? If this device could be made, wouldn't this device help people without hearing? What about the possibilities of learning devices or communication? I believe that this device could put thoughts on people's minds but not necessarily control them (unless it is an easy suggestible subject). HHO generator improves fuel efficiency of petrol engine!

Reproduced verbatim from The Fortean Times issue 249, republishing from FT35JUNE 1979On the 15th a demonstration of a "revolutionary" energy device took place at an undisclosed location in the UK. Iowerth Thomas, 58 a Welsh inventor, hoped to interest both government energy officials and an Arab consortium. Mr Thomas had been experimenting since 1936 with ways to make petrol engines burn more efficiently. His "bolt-on" device promised between 25 and 40 per cent efficiency using "the electrolysis of tap water", plus a cleaner exhaust. The government scientists' response - that it was impossible - spurred Mr Thomas to demonstrate it for them. He reported to the motoring correspondent of the Daily Telegraph that his stationary engine ran for 112 seconds with his device and for 77 seconds on the same amount of petrol without it. The usual objection to electrolytic systems is that the energy needed to run them is greater than that produced. With some sarcasm, New Scientist sniffed that the device needed to be much smaller than the room-size contraption Jones used. What really stoked their scorn was Thomas's reply when asked how it worked: "It's beyond me," he said. How do I determine what gears to use on a table mounted reciprocating device?

I am making a multi-function reciprocating device that will cut/crush many small materials from  thin wood to aluminum/sheetmetal. Mounted on a portable table I have a small 120V motor for my power. I want to design my own drive system using available gears/sprockets, but I am not sure where to start or how to determine which gears to use to achieve my desired output SPM. I could use some advice and pointers on calculating gear size/teeth, which ones will mesh properly, and what type of gears would be best.

Converting gravitational potential energy into air pressure to launch a projectile?

Hello my name is Aaron! I am a high school senior from northeastern Kentucky designing a pneumatic system of sorts for a science competition and need some help. I will be building a device that converts gravitational potential energy, from a falling mass, into air pressure (or possibly the movement of air depending on the design) to launch a projectile a specific distance (max distance needed is 8.25 m). What I am thinking about doing is using one double action pneumatic cylinder (DAPC) as a bellow in which a falling mass (max 3.500 kg at a max 90 cm) would strike its piston shaft, creating positive pressure within the system. With that positive pressure another DAPC’s piston would simultaneously strike our projectile sending it airborne in theory. Below there is an illustration of my idea, sorry about the poor quality. So what I need help determining is would this design work before I start buying parts? If so what approximate sizes should the two cylinders be and should they be different sizes to maximize the force exerted on the projectile? If you have any other ideas concerning the design or any questions about the project PLEASE feel free to share!!! Below are some of the design rules that pertain to this project along with some notes in italics about them. Thank you very much for your time in advance! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Description:    -Prior to competition, teams will design, construct, and calibrate a single device capable of launching projectiles into a target and collect data regarding device parameters and performance. Design Constraints:    -The launching force must be entirely supplied by the gravitational potential energy from a falling mass less than or equal to 3.500 kg. Any device part whose potential energy decreases and provides launch energy is considered part of the mass. The mass may consist of multiple discrete parts, which together count as the total mass.    -During each launch, the gravitational potential energy must be converted to air pressure or air movement, which is then used to launch the projectile, either directly (e.g., pop gun style, etc.) or indirectly (e.g., using a pneumatic cylinder to swing an arm, etc.) All device air chambers must start at ambient air pressure and must automatically return to ambient air pressure.    -The launching device (would look similar to this with the adjustable angle to accommodate different ranges), including the projectile and all components, must fit within a 75.0 cm x 75.0 cm x 1.00 m box in ready-to-launch configuration, in any orientation chosen by the team. Weights used to stabilize the device must be within the box.    -The triggering device (would look something like this except elevated with a mass suspended ready to be released) in not considered part of the device and must not contribute energy to the launch. It must extend out of the launch area, allow for the competitors to remain at least 1.00 m away from the launch area, and does not need to return to the launch area after launch. The triggering device must not pose a danger to anyone due to flying parts or excessive movement outside the launch area.    -Teams must provide unmodified tennis, racquet, ping pong, and/or plastic practice golf balls to be used as projectiles. Teams may change projectiles for each launch.    -The launching device must be designed and operated in such a way to not damage or alter the floor.    -Electrical components are not allowed as part of the device or triggering device. The Competition:    -Two targets, designated by small marks on tape on the floor or panels lying on the floor, must be placed in front of and centered on an imaginary line parallel to the launch direction that bisects the launch are. Supervisors are encouraged to place sand, cat litter, or similar substance in the area around the targets to help indicate landing spots.    -The targets must be placed in front of the launch area at distances between 2.00 m and 8.00 m (in intervals of 10 cm). A distance of at least 2.00 m must separate the targets. Target distances must not be announced until after impound is over and must be the same for all teams. Room ceiling height should be considered when setting the distances.

How can I build a 4 wheeled device on which a harley sportster can be loaded and transported?

The device would be operated by one or more 12v dc motors.  Power for the motors will be obtained from a pickup truck battery. I want to use the device to load a harley sportster, which weighs 500 lbs., onto the box of a pickup truck.   Loading will be enabled by a platform, angled from ground surface to truck box.  Presently, I'm able to use a 12v winch, attached to the front end of the truck box,  to pull the bike up a ramp onto the truck box. To hold the bike erect while it is being pulled up the ramp, I use two 8 inch air filled wheels attached to the bike,( by a very makeshift wooden settup) one wheel on each side of the bike.  However, the bike must be pulled backwards onto the truck box so that it can be more safely offloaded by riding the bike, in its forward position, off the truck and down the ramp .   In order to keep the front wheel straight, this method still requires more than one person to hold the bike while it is being loaded.  The bike's transmission must be in neutral, but the back wheel, drive belt and xmission gears still turn and provide some resistance.  A 4 wheeled device loaded with a motorcycle, and operated by seperate electric motors would have free turning wheels and could be used to move the motorcycle around without its need to be pushed manually.  Perhaps it could be controlled remotely.

The end of the energy crisis? This is the wikipedia page to a cold fusion (low temperature fusion) device that uses powdered nickel as fuel to produce free energy... It's supposed to be totally eco-friendly and it's planned to be sold out as commercial cold fusion device. Just thought to share this with others on Instructables. I like it and am looking forward to seeing this in my hands when it's made commercial. How about you?

Anti Gravity

SCIENTISTS in Finland are about to reveal details of the world's first anti-gravity device. Measuring about 12in across, the device is said to reduce significantly the weight of anything suspended over it.The claim - which has been rigorously examined by scientists, and is due to appear in a physics journal next month - could spark a technological revolution. By combating gravity, the most ubiquitous force in the universe, everything from transport to power generation could be transformed.The Sunday Telegraph has learned that Nasa, the American space agency, is taking the claims seriously, and is funding research into how the anti-gravity effect could be turned into a means of flight.The researchers at the Tampere University of Technology in Finland, who discovered the effect, say it could form the heart of a new power source, in which it is used to drive fluids past electricity-generating turbines.Other uses seem limited only by the imagination:Lifts in buildings could be replaced by devices built into the ground. People wanting to go up would simply activate the anti-gravity device - making themselves weightless - and with a gentle push ascend to the floor they want.Space-travel would become routine, as all the expense and danger of rocket technology is geared towards combatting the Earth's gravitation pull.By using the devices to raise fluids against gravity, and then conventional gravity to pull them back to earth against electricity-generating turbines, the devices could also revolutionise power generation.According to Dr Eugene Podkletnov, who led the research, the discovery was accidental. It emerged during routine work on so-called "superconductivity", the ability of some materials to lose their electrical resistance at very low temperatures. The team was carrying out tests on a rapidly spinning disc of superconducting ceramic suspended in the magnetic field of three electric coils, all enclosed in a low-temperature vessel called a cryostat."One of my friends came in and he was smoking his pipe," Dr Podkletnov said. "He put some smoke over the cryostat and we saw that the smoke was going to the ceiling all the time. It was amazing - we couldn't explain it."Tests showed a small drop in the weight of objects placed over the device, as if it were shielding the object from the effects of gravity - an effect deemed impossible by most scientists."We thought it might be a mistake," Dr Podkletnov said, "but we have taken every precaution". Yet the bizarre effects persisted. The team found that even the air pressure vertically above the device dropped slightly, with the effect detectable directly above the device on every floor of the laboratory.In recent years, many so-called "anti-gravity" devices have been put forward by both amateur and professional scientists, and all have been scorned by the establishment. What makes this latest claim different is that it has survived intense scrutiny by sceptical, independent experts, and has been accepted for publication by the Journal of Physics-D: Applied Physics, published by Britain's Institute of Physics.Even so, most scientists will not feel comfortable with the idea of anti-gravity until other teams repeat the experiments. Some scientists suspect the anti-gravity effect is a long-sought side-effect of Einstein's general theory of relativity, by which spinning objects can distort gravity. Until now it was thought the effect would be far too small to measure in the laboratory.However, Dr Ning Li, a senior research scientist at the University of Alabama, said that the atoms inside superconductors may magnify the effect enormously. Her research is funded by Nasa's Marshall Space Flight Centre at Huntsville, Alabama, and Whitt Brantley, the chief of Advanced Concepts Office there, said: "We're taking a look at it, because if we don't, we'll never know."The Finnish team is already expanding its programme, to see if it can amplify the anti-gravity effect. In its latest experiments, the team has measured a two per cent drop in the weight of objects suspended over the device - and double that if one device is suspended over another. If the team can increase the effect substantially, the commercial implications are enormous. Okay. lets throw down our ideas and see if we can figure something out... or not

How can I make a 3 AA rechargeable batteries powered device last longer? Answered

I got a battery powered plastic cutter ( the batteries were used to heat the blade) and turned it into a soldering iron. I thought it being really smart of me, but the power of my 2700mAh batteries is severely not enough to melt the solder for long. Ater 15 minutes' work it simply stops melting, while the batteries are still fully charged, so my charging device simply turns the green light on and refuses to charge them. HELP!!!

How build a cost-effective device that automatically clears exhaust fumes out my garage?

Soon I'm going to move into a building which shares living quarters with a garage. I'd like to rig up some sort of relay-triggering device that opens a nicely sealed set of vents (one intake, one output) and activates a fan exhausting garage air  - one that activates the minute I open the garage door, and then continues exhausting fumes for a few minutes after I drive the car away (and close the garage door). After those couple of minutes, the fan would stop, and the vents seal shut Due to the "lay of the land" (garage right off a busy road, with very short hidden driveway) I will be backing the car in, so exhaust gases will be concentrated at the back of the garage (close to living areas) - rather than near the open garage door. And as my car has a turbocharger, I often need to let it idle for a minute or two ( to let the turbo cool down) before turning it off to park. So it would be most useful to be expelling those exhaust fumes out of the garage! The question is - what's really the most simple and cost-effective platform for this kind of a system? Could a 555 timer, a few discrete components and some relays do the job elegantly? Or am I better off just diving into Arduino-Land?? Any related ideas (solenoid-closed vents, efficient fans, ducting through walls, etc ) that are especially thrifty - would also be greatly appreciated!!!

Tennis court resurface push tool. I want to push a large "cheese grader " device.

I'm wanting to make a large "cheese grader" type tool that I can push.. It would skim the high points and deposit and clay in low points. I can't use wheels because the grader would follow the contour , when in face it needs.. Leveling .. Thanks anyone who cares :)

BENRINER turning slicer blades

Hi all, I want to make a  benriner turning slicer like device for cutting salads, As it is too expensive for me to buy one. however I have no idea how i can easily make  blades for it. 5V Nextel Phone Charger OK to use?

I have a phone charger for my Nextel phone. On one end is a wallwart for a standard US outlet. The other end is the proprietary Nextel connector. The phone connector end was unfortunately broken, but fortunately I have a spare :) I believe the rest of the rig works fine, and rather than throwing it out, I took a look and it was rated 5V @ 800mA DC. AFAIK, 5V is what most USB devices work off of. Would it be suitable if I snipped the end off and rewired other connectors on to this and used it as a charger for other devices? Thanks in advance!

How can i make a mechanism base for Cradle to jerk, those should have a timer too to control. how?

I just thought in my mind about this.   as i seen hanging cradles, thought that how can i make, customize this with an electronic device, if then, can put timer to on/of at night,to jerk self. then, the baby can  get a good feeling as he/she is with her mother. i am sure that, this will give her(mother) happy too.   pls, guide me to get an hands on this, that how can i make a device to jerk, with battery or with power?? if then, i can add this to the cradle. pls guide me in this regarding

I accidentally invented a device to collimate any light source into a concentrated beam... what should I do with it?

I've been umming and ahhing about what to do with this for the couple of weeks since I accidentally invented the thing (I was working on a solar energy device), and I thought you guys may be your usual well-spring of help and advice. Basically I seem to have designed a device which will collimate an extended light source. Any light source. So you could, for example, turn a 100 Watt light bulb into a 100 Watt laser. Or a square meter of sunlight into a kiloWatt. I haven't made it, but simming on the computer gives an optimal blow out rate of about 1/2 meters per kilometer, so over a range of meters or tens of meters it's pretty much as accurate as a normal laser. The only upper limit I can see on how much power you could put through this thing is when the materials start melting, which would probably be pretty high. There's really nothing fancy about it, it's just a shape. You could print it out easily on a 3d printer and fill it with some kind of settable glass for the total-internal-reflection. It would weigh about as much as a 2 litre bottle of water and be about the same size. I was concerned about it being weaponisable, but even at a kiloWatt the lethal range would probably be less than 100 meters, in which case you might as well just get a gun. I don't know if anyone's already done something like this, I can't find anything online, and people kept telling me it was supposed to be impossible. So, um, yeah...

How do I enlarge an image that's been projected onto a screen? Answered

Hey, I made this device that shines light through an LCD screen to project the image onto a window, which then reflects back to me, forming a sort of heads-up display. The LCD screen is about the size of a credit card, and I can't move it any further than ~40cm from the window. Another restriction is, any lens I use can't make the device any more than another 5cm thicker. (that includes distance between the lens and the screen) Is it possible to make the image appear any larger using any lenses? I've tried those plastic magnifying sheets and a lens from a projector tv, but they don't seem to make much difference. Thanks

I need help building a 1.3V solar charger from garden light cells?

Hi! I need some help with building a solar charger...I don´t know much about electronics, maybe one of you has the patience to answer a few questions? The device I want to charge has a label that says 1.3V=2W (there is 1 rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium battery inside), the wall charger is labeled 1.3V=1500 mA... I have 2 solar cells from garden lights, they both were used to charge two 1.2V batteries with 600 mAh (in series). That´s all I know about them, I have no way of measuring the output... My questions: 1. How many Volts (at least) does it take to charge that device? 2. How many Volts can the battery take without getting damaged? 3. How many Volts do I usually get from those garden light cells? If they charge 2 batteries (1.2V) in series it should be 2.4V, right? 4. If 2.4 Volts is too much for the device, how do I limit it? I would like to build the charger without buying a multimeter and the parts will be salvaged from other stuff...I hope... I know those are a lot of noob questions but I would really appreciate your help!
