What I want to do is set up a switch so that every time it is toggled, one of two sounds are played on a speaker (which I also don't know how to connect). How would I go about doing this? This is for a homemade Aperture Science Handheld Dual Portal Device.

Using quickrete to sound proof walls?

After reading online I thought about an easy cheap alternative to lessen the noise in my garage studio room from escaping to the outside world.  After the new construction the smaller space seems to echo much more than before, thus the need for more soundproofing/deadening.  I though about building forms with plywood backing and filling them with readymix quickrete with wire mesh on top.  After fastening the frames onto the brakets I have that will be firmly fastened to the wall in staggered pattern drywall and carpet padding will be applied on top of the plywood side of the form that would be facing toward the middle of the room thus creating a second relatively thick layer of sound deadening with roughly 1 1/2 inched of dead air space trapped between the outer and inner layer walls.  Has anyone ever tried this?   Thoughts, comments, suggestions welcome.  To clarify:  From outside to inside I would have:  Siding - Standard Wrap and OSB - Stud- Moisture Barrier- Insulation - 5/8 Drywall - 1 1/2 inches of dead air space - Wire mesh side of concrete forms 1 in thick - concrete- plywood backing side of form - carpet padding - drywall - carpet   Thanks.  John

Can you change an acoustic guitars sound by drilling holes in it? Answered

I love my acoustic, it's a Kona K-2 lefty. but I was recently modifying my sisters old bass to make it left handed and I was moving the knobs so my hand wouldn't brush across them, getting rid of the need for the piece of metal that held them where they were. I liked the look of the piece and decided i wanted to put it on my acoustic. As you'll see in the picture, their are holes in the piece of metal where the knobs go, I was wandering of drilling where those holes are would modify the sound of the guitar significantly and if it could be beneficial?

Any other suggestions for the person who decide to take this task are what this post is for. Enjoy Duck-lemon

Should I put sound deadening/dampening material in my car?

I've just spend a little over a grand and blown the majority of my budget on new speakers amp wiring and a headunit for my car. I haven't bought any subwoofers. I'm happy to go over this budget if sound deadening will make a large difference. Anyway, I was just wondering- road noise and all of that aside, will sound deadening make my stereo sound noticeably better? As in, sound quality alone Should point out that the speakers are 300 watts rms all up. 6.5" "woofer" 4" midrange and a tweeter that's under an inch each side. Thanks heaps!

Mystery of the CO2 Balloons!

Filled some balloons w  co2  from dry ice in a soda bottle.   As expected, they act like a lens, a magnifier of sound. No mystery there. Just as a dense glass refracts light, the denser gas refracts sound. The mystery is why balloons filled with co2  leak down faster than identical balloons filled by mouth. Yes, there is some co2 in my exhaled breath, but it is mostly  n2,  and  o2.  I would hav expected the n2 and o2 to leak out more quickly, being smaller molecules. So whatzup wit dat?

The clothes washer sounds like a hammer is being used on it during the spin cycle Answered

Strange Planet Part Two

Following along in the last post about the wild world of water, let's see what other natural oddities our Earth has for us. There's a strange sound coming from the ocean, they're calling it a "Bloop." The earth is known for whistling caves, and plopping mud puddles, thunder and earth quakes, so we know the earth is one vocal creature. But the bloop is new, and as of yet unknown. This is what we know: "Although the sound matches the profile of a living animal, it is much louder than any known creature can produce. Any creature that could produce such a sound would have to be many times larger than the largest whale."The story is here. What do you think it is?_BG\\via neatorama\\

GY6 50 cc chinese scooter won't start. What could it be? Answered

Hi. I bought a 50 cc scooter that was sitting for some time. It's 2008 model and it had around 400 km when I got it. That's pretty low in my opinion. Well at first it was running fine. I mad around 100 km on the first day. Well the second day it didn't start. Thankfully my friend helped me and he said that my carburetor is dirty. He celaned it and scooter started up. I made around 60km on the same day with no problem. In the morning the next day my scooter wouldn't start. I tried to do the same as him. I cleaned carburetor and fuel filter but scooter still wouldn't start. It doesn't start electrically or kick start. It's like 5th day and my scooter still won't start. What happens when i turn it on:  - sometimes it sounds just like a dc motor spinning but nothing happens (there is no cranking sound)  - usually it makes cranking sounds but doesn't start  - when I let it sit for a while (for 30min, 1h, day ...) it makes a sound like it almost started up but then dies Thank you all for help! I would like to apologize for my lack of english words in engines and bikes field (not a native english speaker and I'm not specialized in those fields).

theoritical based help needed Answered

When electricity is passed through a copper wire it becomes magnet.let be the matter ,electricity be  energy and the copper being magnetized be the result.now if we pass magnet through copper wire then it produces electricity.we can say that matter+energy=result again result +matter =that energy.again if we see other examples like if we apply electricity to led light then it produces light again if we apply light to led light it produces electricity.again if we apply electricity to speakers then it produces sound but again if we apply sound to it then it produces electricity.so is the thing that: matter +energy =result and again matter +result=energy is right?has any scientist proved this or it is incorrect? thanks for viewing and further answering

Help

Hello,I'm Marcin from Greece. I saw yesterday a video about a interactive speaker cloud, but is too expensive for me.I started search about how to build one and I saw Arduino think. (I don't have any experience about it but with instructions I believe I can make it for my nephews) That is my project: I think to use led lights and speakers 2.1. I want to sync the woofer with a specific led strips that gonna make a bright white/light blue light when a loud lighting strike hits and then the following sounds that happens at lower volume to light up the others leds, and some times some random lightening lights. All of those thinks to sync with a sound effect of raining and storm that I will download from YouTube and can play for 1 hour and more. Maybe inwill use ceiling power supply so please someone tell me if that is possible to me to make it and how much gonna cost and if anyone can guide me about what I will need and the commands. Please if anyone can, really I want to make it for the kids because they love it when is raining and hear strikes.Love from Greece.SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH.

Vacuum Pump Limit Switch System

Hey Everyone... I'm Alive! I've just been really busy with my senior design project :DSo today I acquired ToolUsingAnimal's vacuum pump on loan. I'm going to be doing some vacuum bagging.... To prevent his pump from blowing out, I need to make a limit switch so the pump shuts down when it reaches full vacuum and then turns back on if some of the vacuum bleeds of somewhere. So the method I cooked up today was to use a syringe with a weight. The weight will pull the syringe open and close a micro switch that turns the compressor on. If there's vacuum, the plunger will be fully retracted and the switch will be open (off position). This method will cost me all of $5 or so (10 cents for the syringe and $4 for the switch).I was just doing some math on how much weight I'll need for different syringe sizes - and it's totally plausible (we're talking less than a pound to 3 pounds depending on syringe diameter).Question - any other suggestions or blatantly obvious/easy/cheap solutions? I know this sounds Rube Golbergian, but it's not nearly as complicated as it sounds (or looks) :D Emphasis on cheap, I just put in an order for roughly $2000 of materials and supplies!
