As such – a significant portion of the build-process will be up to you, the builder. So please know, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to assemble any of our designs! If you need to depart from the instructions, or rearrange things along the way, feel free to.

Step 1: Constructing the Side Frames of Your Credenza‍

These side frames play a crucial role in supporting your credenza's drawers. Therefore, it's essential to ensure precise cuts and secure screwing when working with your lumber.

Begin by taking your 2"X 2" Lumber - 50" Length and attach them to your 2"X 2" Lumber - 11" Length. Ensure both pieces are positioned at the same height on both frames. Start by measuring and marking the longest lumber, the 2"X 2" Lumber - 50" Length, and then locate the midpoint of the 2"X 2" Lumber - 11" Length. Drill holes carefully on both pieces using the appropriate bit, and then secure the smaller lumber onto the longer one with screws.

Please look at our diagram "Group 1" to verify that you have maintained equal spacing from the floor to the initial small lumber and then to the subsequent one.

A helpful suggestion is to align both frames tightly to ensure they are screwed together at an even height. For this task, we recommend using 2 1/2" screws. These screws can penetrate the lumber without damaging the wood or protruding dangerously through the surface.

Step 2: Building the Drawers of Our Credenza

Let's move on to the credenza drawers! For this part, you'll require the following materials: 2 pieces of 1"X 10" Lumber with a length of 40", 2 pieces of 1"X 10" Lumber with a length of 10", and 1 piece of 1"X 12" Lumber with a length of 40".

Begin by using your measuring tape to accurately mark all your lumber for each drawer. Ensuring precise measurements is crucial, as any miscalculation could result in a crooked drawer or improper fit within your frame.

After marking all your lumber, employ an electric saw to cut the necessary pieces. Alternatively, a manual saw can be used, but extra caution is needed to ensure each board has a straight finish. This process will yield four lengthy boards for the top and base of your drawers, two for the drawer walls, and four pieces for the side walls. In total, ten pieces of wood will be prepared for assembly.

Begin by attaching the top and sides of your drawer using the 1x10" lumber - 40" length pieces to the 1x10" lumber - 10" length pieces, forming a sturdy and well-defined rectangle. Keep the 1x2" lumber - 40" length aside for now; it will serve as a reinforcing wall later, ensuring all angles of your drawer are properly fixed when this piece is added. We suggest using 2" screws for this step.

Repeat this action with the next drawer.

Step 3: Fixing the Drawers to the Frame

You now possess two sets of components: the frames and the drawers. To prepare for assembly, make sure you have a level surface to lay the frame on. Having additional assistance is advisable to support both frames while positioning the first drawer. We'll start with the upper drawer, which should be placed on the shorter wooden pieces located at the end of the longest lumber. For a visual reference, please consult the image labeled as Group 3.

Use your measuring tape and pencil to mark the lumber. Ensure the drawer is centered properly. Carefully drill the holes, and for this step, we recommend using 2 1/2" screws.

Now, position the second drawer atop the adjacent smaller lumber closest to the floor. Just like before, meticulously mark, drill your holes, and secure the drawer with screws. Ensure it aligns perfectly with the first drawer.

Keep in mind, this project is all about patience and savoring the process! Once you place this final drawer, your work will be complete!
