Introduction: ALIEN CYBORG FISHMAN HEADPIECE

About: Bald creator and lover of coffee, art, more coffee, and anything tech!

Welcome to my build!

This costume with headpiece/mounts etc etc took the longest amount of time out of any of my previous builds. Everything was built from scratch, hand painted, and molded together!

It took in all over 50+ hours to complete the whole build, and 90% of that time was JUST spent on the face and headpiece.

ENJOY seeing the process of making this vision come to life and I hope it inspires you!

Step 1: Building the Frame Cap

Materials Used:

Copper bendable wire

Liquid latex

GoPro head mount

acrylic paint

Crafting plaster

Styrofoam golf balls

Hot glue gun

THE STEPS:

1) Make a mold of your face to build and paint the latex face with later

2) Place the GoPro head mount on a Styrofoam head and begin layering liquid latex and toilet paper creating a solid "cap" hiding the GoPro mount

3) Layout the bendable copper wire flat into desired fin formation and paint three layers of liquid latex to create the master head fin

4) Cut the Styrofoam golf balls in half and latex/build them into the head cap

5) Hand paint the fins your desired color scheme

5) Bend the latex of the fin back exposing the bottoms of the copper wire and press/hot glue them into the Styrofoam pieces on the head cap

Step 2: The Face Visor

MATERIALS:

Biker helmet bubble visor

GoPro angles extender pole

GoPro head-mount and hardware

mini LED strand lights with battery pack

Styrofoam golf balls

liquid latex

Latex pointy ears

acrylic paint

Hot glue

Drill

THE STEPS:

1) Mount and test the GoPro extender pole to the GoPro head mount

2) Drill a hole in the top center of the bubble visor and attache the GoPro with GoPro hardware

3) Test it with the head cap from previous step

4) Cut the styrofoam golf balls in half and hot glue them along the GoPro head shaft then liquid latex them

5) Paint them a desired color scheme

6) Build and paint the liquid latex pointy ears

7) TEST IT OUT!!!

Step 3: LED Head Cap Lights, Fins, and Visor

MATERIALS:

Liquid latex

Acrylic Paint

Hot glue

Styrofoam golf balls

Color changing (20 mode) LED strand with battery pack

Copper bendable wire

hot glue

THE STEPS:

1) Cut the Styrofoam golf balls in half and run down the sides of the head for the "spitter fins"

2) Liquid latex and layer them into the head cap with layers of toilet paper

3) Run and hot glue the large LED color strand along the bottoms of the Styrofoam golf balls angled up

4) Test them out!

5) Repeat the same steps as before to create the side "spitter fins" and hand paint

6) Expose the bottom copper wire of the fins, stick into the side styrofoam golf ball halves and hot glue in place

7) Paint and blend the "spitter fins" into the entire head cap

8) Attach the face visor and test it out!

Step 4: The Face

MATERIALS:

Liquid Latex

Acrylic Paint

Firefly pulsing LED balls

Plastic spikes

Hot glue

THE STEPS:

1) Paint the latex face mold desired color scheme

2) Hot glue spikes to the pulsing LED balls and then hot glue to the latex face mold

3) Attach the face to the dummy with the head visor and test it out with all lights!

Step 5: THE BRAIN!

MATERIALS:

Liquid latex

LED light-up brain

Crepe hair

Acrylic Paint

Hot glue

Velcro

The Steps:

1) Align the brain where you want it on the head cap and apply Velcro to the bottom of the brain and the head cap with hot glue so you can access the battery part of the brain to change

2) Hot glue in and hand paint a ton of hanging crepe hair around the brain to make it look like coral

3) Try on the mask and master head cap to test out!

Step 6: THE MASTER FIN!

MATERIALS:

Liquid latex (you see the trend here!)

Bendable copper wire

Acrylic paint

Styrofoam golf balls

GoPro extender head mount

Motorcycle bubble shield visor

Mini LED strands

Hot glue

THE STEPS:

1) Like before create a HUGE head fin to go on the GoPro extender pole created earlier

2) Lay out flat the copper bendable wires and layer liquid latex to make it look like a fin

3) Hand paint the fin

4) Once dried peel back and expose the bottom of the copper wires, stick into the Styrofoam golf balls attached to the extender poke, and hot glue into place

5) Run another strand on mini LED lights with battery pack along the base of the master head fin

6) Attach the visor to the extender pole and test it out!

Step 7: THE FINAL LOOK

The FINAL step...LATEX THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR FACE!

Cover any exposed hair, and in my case just eyebrows, with toilet paper and paint around the edges with liquid latex. The continue to paint around the entire face creating a nice heavy thick layer. Once dry spirit glue the latex foam facemask to your face. Make sure to turn on all of the glowing firefly LED orbs first, learned that the hard way!

Next you place the entire headpiece on your head stretching on so its nice and tight. Then attach the LED clear face mask and extender pole into the head GoPro mount. I recommend for the larged embedded LED head wire to put it on a slow transition mode that its all the colors, it lights up the head fins really well and creates a very cool effect! Turn everything on and watch people's reactions! This build received so much attention/positive feedback!

I hope you enjoyed checking out this build, it took a LONG TIME and this is only the headpiece portion of it! There were gauntlets, and an electric heart pendant with PC processor fans that was powered by 9v batteries!

I really enjoyed this head build because it let my creativity soar and I hope it inspired you to build something!

Happy crafting!!!!
