Introduction: CUSTOM OFFICE SIGN

About: I make things in my home shop. YouTube channel link... https://www.youtube.com/derekconwayTX

WELCOME to another INSTRUCTABLE by DC.

Today I make a sign for my office door. I uploaded several pics with each step of the process in making this custom hand made sign!!

Enjoy the YouTube video attached in this intro as well!!

Step 1: MATERIALS and PREP...

I chose to resaw a half inch piece of MDF on my bandsaw to create two thin pieces of MDF. You can easily buy two quarter inch pieces instead...or you may use an entirely different type of material for the letters.

Choose your backing to mount the letters to. I chose a piece of white oak.

Run ONE THIN bead of super glue down the center of each piece of MDF and attach the two pieces together. (let it dry. after the letters are cut out you will then have TWO OF EVERYTHING).

Get a font together, print it to the size you want, cut out the letters.

Step 2: PAINT and MOUNTING LETTERS

Now that everything is cut out and the backing has been prepped you can paint the letters and backing. I did a grey wash look for the backing. Then grey, white, and red for the letters. (see pics)

Glue the first color down after attaching a straight edge to get an accurate line. Then simply go back and glue down the second layer/color that you chose!

The last step here was to coat the entire sign with a couple coats of spray poly. (minwax semi gloss)
