Here's a quick and easy way to use the Circuit Scribe to fix a Key Fob that has stopped working, or even a remote control that has you pressing the buttons as if you were trying to reach the other side.

Step 1: Tools and Materials

Just one thing you need... the Circuit Scribe pen. Well, that and the Fob or remote control.

Step 2: Ink the Pads

A very common issue with Fobs and Remote controls, when they require pressing very hard only to find them partially working, is when the pads have become worn. The pads in a Fob / Remote control have a carbon contact on the underside of the button that will connect to the control board. This is needed to complete the circuit, to activate it.

Simply take the pen and slowly color in the pad, where the carbon contact once was full. Be sparing with it as too much will just leave a wet mess that will take a very long time to dry (you can also take a q-tip or small towel to wipe away excess). If you want to speed up the drying time, try using a hair dryer or even a toaster oven on a low setting.

Once dried, you can put it back together.

Step 3: Test It Out

That's it, there's nothing left to do except go and test out your new working Fob / Remote control. The only thing you have to watch for is making sure it is dry before putting it back together. Too much and you'll just end up with the ink rubbing off on the board. If that happens, worry not, just take some alcohol and clean up the board.
