This is an instructable tutorial on how to make a scar that looks realistic for a scary Halloween costume. This is an easy description on how to make one in 8 steps. Hope you enjoy and get scared with your end result.

Step 1: Step 1

The first thing you will need to do for this Instructable is to gather all the needed materials:

- scar putty/wax

- tissue paper

- fake blood/food coloring

- knife

- concealer

- body paint (red, brown)

- eyeshadow (red, brown, black)

You can get all of these materials either online or in shops close by.

Step 2: Step 2

Let's get started with the scar. first of all you'll have to clean your skin where you want your scar to be. I have chosen to work on my arm because that is the easiest part to work on considering the scar. The best way to clean your skin is to rinse it off with some warm water and then dry it very dry. (Don't use soap -> might not make the putty stick as well).

Take a small scoop of the putty and put it on the place where you want it. Then shape and sculpture it so that it looks like a scar to you. What I did was make a sausage (length of scar) of the putty and put it on my arm. Then I kind of scraped the sides on to my skin so it would stick. After that, I took a knife (none sharp side) and kind of cut through the sausage. To add a skin effect I put some thin tissue paper on the 2 sides next to the sausage.

Step 3: Step 3

Now we have the putty on our chosen spot. So now we can move on to the next step. I take some of my concealer and dab some with my finger on the tissue going down to my normal skin. Don't use a brush because it could mess up the putty. The best thing to use is either your finger or a sponge.

TIP: Use a concealer that is lighter than the color of your face.

Step 4: Step 4

For the next step we will use the body paint. Now we can use a brush (I used a Q-tip), but a very thin one. We use a bright red and color in the rin we made with the knife in the putty. Then if you want you can also slightly color the top edges of the rin with a darker red (brown). This will give a more dimensional look to your scar.

BE SURE THAT THE COLOR IS BODY PAINT BECAUSE OTHER COLORS COULD BE TOXIC.

Step 5: Step 5

The next thing to do is to get your dark eye shadows and make your scar dimensional. To do this you just color the rest of the scar with the eye shadow colors red, dark red, brown, and black. To add the colors you also just dab on the putty with either your finger or a sponge (I used a Q-tip). There is no real order for doing this so you just add the eyeshadow till it looks like a scar.

TIP: The closer to the scar the darker the colors get.

Step 6: Step 6

Now comes the fun part. You are going to put the fake blood on your scar. To do this you just put most of the blood in your scar and at some parts, you overflow it so it drips down your arm.
