Step 1: Materials

You will need:

  • Two sheets of blue felt
  • One sheet of white felt
  • Iron on transfer paper
  • Iron
  • Marker for tracing
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle
  • Blue thread to match your felt and black thread
  • Sewing machine (optional)

Step 2: Cutting the T.A.R.D.I.S Shape

First, you need to draw or print a simple T.A.R.D.I.S. and cut it out.

Then trace it onto your blue felt and cut out. You will need two of these.

Step 3: Cutting Blue Squares

Next cut out one of the squares and trace it onto the blue felt. You will need six squares.

Step 4: Cutting Windows

Cut out one of the windows and trace it onto the white felt, and cut it out. You will need two windows.

Step 5: Cutting the Lamp

Cut out the lamp trace it onto the white felt and cut it out.

Step 6: The Signs

You will need to print out the Police Box sign and the Pull To Open sign on the iron on transfer paper. Following the directions of your iron on paper, iron the signs onto the white felt and cut them out.

*For most iron on transfer paper, you need to reverse your image.*

*Read the directions carefully.*

Step 7: Sewing

Once you have all of your pieces cut out you can start to sew you T.A.R.D.I.S. You can either use a sewing machine or you can do it by hand. Sew all the blue squares with the blue thread. Sew the windows, both signs and the light with the black thread. For the windows I sewed around the edges then added the horizontal line down the middle then I added the two vertical lines.

Once you have all the pieces sewed together you can now sew the front and back pieces together. Only sew until the first ridge.

Step 8: Sewing the Lip

Once you have the two pieces of the T.A.R.D.I.S sewn together flip it over and cut the lamp off the back piece. Fold the edge over toward the inside and sew it. Make sure that you are only sewing the back piece, you do not want to sew the front and back pieces together.

Step 9: Finishing Touches

Go around the top edge of the front piece with the blue thread so that you have a nice border all the way around your T.A.R.D.I.S., make sure that you line it up with the border that you already have.

Step 10: Finished

Now you have a beautiful T.A.R.D.I.S for all of your wibbily-wobbly timey-wimey reading.
