Introduction: Glowing Laptop Cooler

I present to you my master piece. The Glowing One :D

I was really bored so i tried my best, enjoy :)

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Materials and tools that i used

  • Wires. About a meter and a half.
  • Hot glue gun and some glue
  • Random orbit sander and a few sanding discs
  • Tool to cut plastic (Dremel with pvc cutoff wheel)
  • Hobbyglass (Plastic sheet, doesn't care if it's scratched
  • Router with cutting blade
  • Variety of ply
  • Wire
  • 12v Power supply for leds
  • Socket for power supply
  • Workbench
  • 3 same potentiometers (10k are best)
  • Knobs for potentiometers
  • Jigsaw
  • Soldering tools
  • And a lot of patience and time

Step 2: Marking and Cutting

First I cut all of the pieces out and made holes for hobbyglass. I have pre-drilled few holes for easier cutting with jigsaw.

Step 3: Cutting Hobbyglass

I marked and cut hobby glass with a rotary cutting tool

Step 4: Routing Some Material Out

I routed a few bevels of some pieces to fit hobbyglass. Not all bevels are work of art, but meh, it works for me.

Step 5: Assembly

I assembled it. Screwed it firmly. Fits good enough. Doesn't wiggle around. Good :D

Step 6: Sanding and Gluing

I wanted a rustic look. So I banged it hard with my hammer :D (Sounds dirty right?). Sprayed two coats of black paint and sanded them down. I also sanded hobby glass because it was badly scratched and glued them in place.

Step 7: Electric Part

Last but not least I soldered led strips to the platform, screwed fan to the hole and connected 3 control (RGB) potentiometers ( I wanted to make leds to be controlled by arduino, but nah).

Step 8: Final Product

I hope you enjoyed. Thank you for liking and subscribing! :)
