Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid. If you want to know what that means, click on the link. The name "Oobleck" was originally from a Dr. Seuss book, but has come to refer to a mixture of cornstarch and water that has non-newtonian properties.

Step 1: How It Works

This is obviously not my video, but it does a fantastic job of explaining why oobleck works the way it does.

Step 2: How to Make It

Mix cornstarch and water at a ratio of approx. 2.5/1. Stir this mixture with a spoon. Mixing the combination may be difficult due to the nature of oobleck. You now have your own non-newtonian fluid! Enjoy playing with your oobleck!

Step 3: Coloring the Oobleck (optional)

This is not the best way to get a uniform color throughout. To do that, you'll need to dye the water before mixing it with the cornstarch. My way of dyeing the oobleck involves placing a couple drops of a different color in each corner, and then swirling it throughout the mixture with my finger.
