Fast, long range and graceful, the Marauder is a small, flying wing paper airplane. Designed as a follow-on to the Skystreak family, the Marauder is a lightweight airplane that sails along marvelously, and is sure to impress everyone who sees it. Despite its small size and excellent low speed handling characteristics, the Marauder is also very good at flying quickly. Anyone who enjoyed the Buzzard, Scimitar and/or the Intruderis sure to enjoy the Marauder too.

Step 1: Materials

Required:
1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper
Tape
Ruler
Pencil
Scissors

Step 2: Length and Fourth Folding

Fold your paper in half length-wise. Proceed to do this again so the paper will be divided into 4 tall but skinny sections.

Step 3: Cover Folding Preparation

Fold one corner of your paper to the edge of the opposite side. Then open and repeat on the other side. Then pull the top half of the X onto the bottom half.

Step 4: Cover Folding and Wing Extension Preparation

Fold the paper down, with the half fold of the cover fold meeting the center line. Then unfold and fold the paper of the outermost section on the left inwards along its crease. Then fold the cover fold down, creasing the edge at the wingtip. Repeat on the other side. Once both sides are prepared, fold down the entire cover fold.

Step 5: Counterweight Folding

Pull the edges of the cover folds up to the front as pictured. Then fold the diagonal edge to the center line and repeat on the opposite side. Then pull the remaining front triangle down and tuck the paper into its center.

Step 6: Wing Extension Folding and Fin Construction

Pull the wing extension folds you made earlier outwards, with their rears being extended completely and the forward edges flush with the back of the cover fold. Do this on both sides and then fold the airplane up on half along its center crease. Make marks 0.75 inches inwards from the trailing edge along the center crease and 0.75 inches outwards from the center crease along the trailing edge. Then from the mark along the trailing edge, measure 1 inch inwards and make a mark. Cut between the mark on the center line and the mark 1 inch in from the trailing edge mark. Now open the airplane and cut between the trailing edges and the fin cut line. Fold the fins up whilst making sure they remain parallel to the center line (you can do this by aligning their trailing edges with those of the wing).

Step 7: Taping

Tape your Marauder at the specified points. Then flip the aircraft over an unfold its fins.

Step 8: Flight

Like many other flying wings before it, the Marauder is fast and graceful paper airplane. At launch, you must hold the airplane by its counterweight fold and give it a throw of moderate speed. Additional applicable surfaces include elevators, ailerons, elevons, rudders, flaps, and slats. Enjoy!
