Introduction: How and Where to Get 4k Resolution Video?

4k is a new resolution standard designed for digital cinema and computer graphics. It has following advantages: higher image definition quality, more detailed picture, better fast-action and larger projection surface visibility. In July of 2010, YouTube service announced the support of 4k video with the resolution of 4096 x 3072. Presently, several dozens of videos with 4k resolution are presented on YouTube.

Step 1: Search for 4k Videos on YouTube

Official examples of videos are available in the playlist named 4k Resolution. It is also possible to search by phrases "4k Resolution", "4k" or "4096p". Regarding the terminology, the last request is not fully correct, because indications 480p, 720p, 1080p reffer to the vertical resolution, but, nevertheless, some part of 4k videos is presented with this tag. Even some 4k cartoons are available on YouTube.

Step 2: Download and Install 4K Video Downloader

Google and YouTube are interested in video viewing on their website only, so they do not allow downloading the videos from the website directly. But this does not mean that it is impossible. You should just follow several simple steps to download the video from YouTube.

Download and install the 4K Video Downloader application. It's available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.

Step 3: Copy and Paste the Link

Copy the video link from the browser and press 'Paste Url' button in 4K Video Downloader. The application will parsing information about the video and will propose you a few formats to save a video on your computer. 


Step 4: Select 4K Quality in the Settings Window.

Select a quality type in the download window and press 'Download' button. After that all you need is wait until the download is finished. Click Open in Folder and play the video!
