Introduction: How to Read an Arduino Card Using LabVIEW

About: I am an experimental physicist who teaches electronics and researches quantum computing. Programming LabVIEW and Arduino cards is extremely fun. Most of the videos are from the classes I teach, Analog and Digi…

This video shows how to read an Arduino card using LabVIEW. LabVIEW has a great user interface that makes it easy to save data from an Arduino card. One of the biggest challenges when using an Arduino card is that it is devilishly hard to save data. LabVIEW solves this issue with just a few commands. You will need ot have a computer with LabVIEW and the righht drivers loaded to interface over the serial port. If you try copying this program and it does not work, you may not have the correct drivers loaded. LabVIEW does not normally have this unless you load the serial interface drivers. One issue I have not solved is how to get the data into a waveform so express VIs can be used. The solution is to have the Arduino card record voltage and time and then send those over the serial port. Also, for measurong frequency, it would be best to have the frequency measured by the Arduino card. This video is instructional however when it comes to sending a signal over the serial port.
