Introduction: Installing Syma X11 With Hubsan X4 Motors

This is an instructable to help show you how to install larger Hubsan X4 motors into your stock Syma X11. These motors are much faster and are tons of fun!

Step 1: The Supplies

For this build you will need the following items:

Syma X11 Hornet

https://www.amazon.com/SYMA-010101-01040-Syma-X11-...

Husband X4 Motors

https://www.amazon.com/AVAWO-Hubsan-H107L-Original...

Husband X4 props

https://www.amazon.com/AFUNTA-Propeller-Blades-Pro...

You will also need:

Hot Glue

8mm drill bit

Soldering Iron

Wire snips

Screwdriver

Step 2: Taking the Body Apart

Unscrew the props from the quadcopter. Next remove the bottom screws that hold on the bottom plate and motor guards.

Step 3: Removing the Motors

Take your soldering iron and remove the wires from the board that are connected to the motors. Next, remove the motors.

Step 4: Removing the Gears

Take your wire snips and pull the pin out to the big hear.

Step 5: Soldering the Motors

The motors are much larger, as you can see, the 8mm are compared beside the 6mm stock motors. I ran the motors to see which ones spun which way. I made a note of which one spins which way in the photo.

Solder the motors into the appropriate spots. (Looks closely for polarity)

Step 6: Installing the Larger Motors

So, I didn't have any metric drill bits. A 1/4" bit was too small and a 5/16" bit was too large. I ended up taking my soldering iron and melting the hole large enough for the motors. Next, I squeezed them in.

Step 7: Hot Glue Time!

Take your hot glue gun and put a drop on the top and bottom of the motor. This will hold it in place so there is no wiggle room.

Step 8: Finishing Up

Screw on the motor guards and bottom plate. Once that's finished, place your new props on the motors by pressing them on. They're direct drive now so there is no more hears to work.

That's it! Enjoy your new fast motors!

Step 9: Test Flight!

This is comparison of the stock Syma X11 against the modified Syma X11 I made in the instructable. Like and Enjoy!
