Here is how to dissassemble a jazz camera. I would like to show you how to take out the interesting parts inside.

Step 1: IMPORTANT NOTICE:

MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN OUT ANY SD CARDS AND HAVE COPIED ALL YOUR PICTURES OFF THE CAMERA. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST DATA. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Step 2: You Will Need:

- a Jazz DV 179 Camera
- a super small philips screwdriver
- a thick slot screwdriver
- time and patience

Step 3: No More Battery:

Slide off the battery cover. Pull out the battery.

Step 4: Unscrew:

Unscrew the screws shown with the small screwdriver.

Step 5: Next Step:

Pull up on the cover, it will crackle and might break so make sure your camera is scrap or similar. Do this slowly for 180*.

Step 6: Tripod B Gone:

Unscrew screws shown to take off tripod stand.

Step 7: No More Fan-type Piece:

Unscrew the screws shown. The higher screw was too tight for me So I broke the piece off.

Step 8: Plastic Off:

Again, undo screws to take off the back cover and button panel. Be careful though, the lcd panel is still attached. You might want to keep it for another project.

Step 9: Taking Out LCD:

Unscrew the screws shown. Next, unplug the connnection. Flip out the lcd in the disconnected piece and unscrew the screws shown. Next, pull on the lcd. (not too hard or you will break the wires.) It will come apart and you can slide out the wires through the opening. Then unscrew the screws shown in the second last picture to separate the frame from the actual lcd. Pry the pieces apart with the slot screwdriver. Finally pry the lcd out from its place with the slot screwdriver. If you want to go further, you can slide out the black piece that's holding the ribbon cable in and take out the lcd.

Step 10: Taking Off Button Panel:

Unscrew the two black screws shown in picture one. Then unplug it from its plug.

Step 11: Taking Off the Plastic:

On the backside, unscrew all the screws shown. Next, gently pull the piece off the motherboard. The eye of the camera will still be attached and you will need to pull it off the 5 pronged connector. See picture 3.

Step 12: The Eye:

Unscrew the 3 black screws on the front circuit board, the bottom ones, not the higher ones holding the eye together. Then unattach it.

Step 13: Power Outlet:

Unscrew the two screws beside the power connector. You will need to break the assembly off. I decided that I didn't want to.

Step 14:

Congratulations, you have finished. Enjoy your recycled electronic components. If you wanted to go further, you could desolder the pieces you wanted off the motherboard. There are some cool pieces on it. For example, a microphone.
