Introduction: LED Backpack

So I thought it would be nice to have something to light up the streets at night when I was longboarding or biking.  I wanted something that was always on me to and light weight.  So I decided my backpack was a good candidate for this solution.  Ok so I bought these led strips at autozone and they came with test batteries in a tiny plastic box(you can replace the test batteries just go to radioshack).  Anyways I went to radioshack bought a small project box and on/off switch.  Then I used a dremel tool to drill out the hole for the switch and the hole for where the wires come out.  Then I used soldering iron to solder all of the wiring together.

Step 1:

Next you will you need to tie a knot with the wires inside the box and then add hot glue to where the wires come out.  This will prevent any wires pulling loose from any solder joints.  Also surround the project box with tape to keep it closed.

Step 2:

The next step is sow a pocket or pouch inside the backpack for the enclosure to sit in.(also this is an old picture please ignore the switch in the hole of the backpack).

Step 3:

The LED strips can be attached with adhesive Velcro strips.  Now you have your LED backpack ready to keep you safe on the roads.
