I have lots of "toys" and am always looking for ways to use them. Today, I was able to use three of them to make a pocket sized paper doll toy. I used my Xyron, Cricut, and my straight edge slicer. Plus, I was able to make a cute paper doll toy and holder that works well in the card. I call this a in win, I get to play and when I'm babysitting, the little grl gets to play. Of course, fancy machines aren't necessary they just make life easier.

Materials:
Cardstock in a few colors
Stencil of dresses or Cricut ( I used Cricut Once Upon a Princess cardridge)
Scissor
Magnet tape, or Xyron with Magnet / Laminate Cartridge
Slicer to make things nice and neat
Altoids Can
Spray Paint
Sharpie Marker

Step 1: Prime the Altoid Container

The Altoids container is going to be used for two reasons: Easy storage when the paper doll is not being played with, and as the doll. To prime the container, you will need to spray paint the back and front of the container. This will take at least two coats of spray paint and 15 - 30 minutes to dry each time.

Step 2: Make the Magnet

At this point, I put my Card stock through the Xyron. This put the magnetic backing on the Card stock. As you can see from the material photo, I had magnet paint at one point. This was because I had cut the shapes and painted them but it did not work. I suggest magnet tape of some sort.

Step 3: Make the Clothing

I was going to put the magnet strips through my cricut at this point. However, my mat was not cooperating. So, I took my pieces that I had originally cut and painted and used them as stencils. Then I cut the magnet strips with a scissor.

Step 4: Make the Doll Container

Once the Altoids container is dried, take a stencil (or if you can free hand) to make the doll on the flat backside.

Step 5: Play and Store

Now that all is done, it is time to play and store. The pieces will magnet to the doll while playing so if the child is in the car or in the stroller they don't have to fuss with the pieces dropping. Then, once they are done they can be stored inside so that they safe from beng damaged and don't get lost.
