Introduction: Project SlamFire.... With Video!

About: I used to build with K'nex. I have many really good memories of what the K'nex building community on here used to be. Now I don't build and my dog is dead. Killerk's original K'nex gun is the best ever made, …

Hey guys, it's me, and here I have for you my first gun that can be considered innovative. It is the second slamfire gun on this site, the other being the K2. This shoots better, holds more ammo, and is more piece efficient. I built SlamFire not even knowing there was another one out there, LOL. It took maybe an hour to get the basic mech down, and a few hours to get it working fairly smoothly. I didn't know that it would be so simple.

Why this is only the second on instructables, I have no idea. but it's cool.

The way it works is there is an internal trigger, and the charging handle has a striker that sets it off when the handle is pushed forward, releasing the firing pin, and shooting the ammo.

The magazine holds about 16 orange connectors with green rods. It never has jammed and I have shot it a couple hundred times. The magazine is internally pushed. The gun has only a few cut rods.

The charging handle is set up very simply, and there is a guide for the pin. ROF is about the same as a ZKAR, though this is more reliable. The mech holds lots of bands, but for the striker to lower the trigger, you don't want much more then a 117 band.

The main con for this gun is that it doesn't work really smoothly. It's reliable and shoots well, but I'm not completely satisfied with it. Next time you see this it will probably have a normal trigger and look much better.

What I want is for one of you guys to take this design and make something wonderful with it.

Internals are on the next step.
