Introduction: Raising Breast Cancer Awareness With 3D Printing
I been a fan of 3d printing and 3d modeling for a very long time now. it's great being able to bring an idea, sketch or image to life using 3D printing. I also been a huge fan the graffiti subculture and spray can art.
I decided to make my own Spray can Character about a year ago. i 1st printed it in a single color and hand painted it.. However, this method was very labor intensive and would not be very easily replicated. A couple of weeks later i was able figure out how to color 3d print and was able to simplify the process.
I have made about 2 dozen variations of my spray can characters since i learned to customize it. So when breast cancer awareness moth came by i decided to make a custom piece specially designed to help raise breast cancer awareness. I also decided to donate 100% of the proceeds to the American Cancer society.

Step 1: 3D Model and UV Mapping
1st i had to 3d model my spray can character.. this took a lot of hours and a lot of 3d print testing to make sure it will print without breaking. Also in order to make the print more affordable i had to hollow the model down to 2mm wall thickness.
Since i planned to make the spray can figure customizable i had to separate all the aspects that will later change color like the gloves, shoes, tshirt and paint drips, etc.. these are all separated in the UV map in the 3d file and separated in a master photoshop file.
Once the 3d model was ready and the UV mapped i can easily change the colors and appearance of my spray can.
Step 2: Customize It for Breast Cancer Awareness and Donate the Proceeds
I always wanted to find a way to help raise breast cancer awareness using my art work. I'm happy that i can finally do so. I'm also donating 100% of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society so not only i'm raising awareness but also raising money to fight cancer using 3D printing.
