Introduction: Refurbish Kitchen Table

Give your kitchen table a new look!

Step 1:

Decide what colors best fit your home.
I had an old oak table but other furniture in my home is Walnut.

Step 2: Apply Citristrip Gel to Table

I left this on for about an hour and then scraped it off .
If you leave it on for a long period of time you'll have trouble with the stain penetrating the wood.

Step 3: Sand Table

I started sanding with a 60 and finished with 220.

Step 4: Apply Stain

Before you start staining be sure that your table is clean.
I started with dark walnut Minwax and then used Espresso.
Apply a thin coat and be sure to wipe off excess stain.

Step 5: Apply Multiple Coats of Stain

Depending on how dark you want your table, apply several layers of stain.

Step 6: Apply Protective Topcoat

I used Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish.
Apply a thin layer.
Between each layer I sanded by hand using a fine grit sandpaper

Step 7: Chalk Paint

I used American Decor Chalk Paint ultra-matte.
I decided on a light color (Lace)
You will need to apply several coats.
Once I applied several layers of paint, I applied one coat of Polycrylic finish.
