bObi Pet has 80 touch sensor along the front of her bumper that trigger the two sensor strips inside. If bObi Pet's obstacle detection sensors are working well, but you've seen some abnormal reactions when she touches furniture, a simple change of the sensor strips may be useful.

First, see the check up test for bObi to make sure a repair is necessary. It is the same set of steps for bObi Pet and Classic.

Once you've diagnosed bObi Pet, you'll just need a Phillips head screwdriver and a new set of touch sensors for this replacement.

Step 1: Turn BObi Pet Off

Before we get started, turn bObi Pet OFF and flip her over onto a flat surface.

Next, remove the dustbin. Grip the button on the back of the bin and pull to remove.

Step 2: Remove the Front Wheel

Then, remove bObi Pet’s front wheel. Grip the wheel with your hand and pull straight up, using the screwdriver for leverage.

Behind the wheel are two screws. Use the screwdriver to remove the larger screw set deeper in the wheel compartment.

Keep the wheel, its screw, and all other screws removed from bObi Pet for later reassembly.

Step 3: Remove the Dustbin Holders

For the next step, remove the screws on both sides of the dustbin.

Then, remove the corner pieces that were held down by the screws.

Grip the brush compartment and pull down to reveal two screws on a red fastener. Remove them with the screwdriver.

Step 4: Remove the Main Brushes

Pull the brush compartment up until it is freed from the red fastener. Then, detach the brush compartment and set it aside.

Remove the 4 screws located beneath the brush compartment.

Next, remove the 2 screws on the dustbin’s red fastener. Then lift the fastener out.

Step 5: Detach the Cover

Lift the cover to reveal the main board underneath. Remove the two circuit plugs connecting the lid to the mainboard.

Now that the cover is completely detached, you can start with the touch sensor replacement.

Step 6: Unplug the Sensor Strip

bObi Pet's sensor strips are attached to the circuit board by red and white wires.

Since bObi Pet's lid is now flipped, the sensor strip shown on the left receives signals from bObi Pet's right half of touch sensors during the check up test. (Highlighted Blue)

The sensor strip shown plugged in on the right of the cover circuit board receives signals from bObi Pet's left half of touch sensors. (Highlighted Red)

Unplug the side you wish to replace from the circuit board. In this case, bObi Pet's right side of sensor strips are being replaced.

Step 7: Feed the Wiring Out

Feed the wires towards the edge of the bumper. You will have to remove them from the hooks along the inside edge of the bumper. (Highlighted Green)

Step 8: Attach the New Sensor Strip

Once you've freed the wires from all the hooks, pull to unplug them from bObi Pet.

Next, attach your new touch sensors. The red wire plugs on top and the white wire below.

Then, tuck both wires back behind the screw post on the cover. (Highlighted Orange)

Step 9: Plug in the Sensor Strip

Feed the wires of your touch sensors back through the hooks along the inside edge of the bumper.

Once you reach the middle, plug in your touch sensors and you're ready to close the cover.

Step 10: Connect the Cover

Attach the 2 circuit plugs from bObi Pet's cover back onto her main board.

The yellow-wired plug connects to the right side of the mainboard.

The white-wired plug on bObi Pet’s lid connects to the middle of the mainboard.

Step 11: Align the Cover's Edges

Lay down bObi Pet's cover and line up the edges precisely.

While holding bObi Pet's top and bottom together, carefully flip her over onto a flat surface.

Step 12: Reinstall the Front Wheel

Reinstall the front wheel’s screw.

Then, place the front wheel on top and firmly push down to secure it.

Step 13: Secure the Cover Screws

Replace the dustbin’s red fastener and install its 2 screws.

Install the 4 screws in the space beneath the brush compartment.

Step 14: Replace the Main Brushes

Plug in the brush compartment.

Then, replace its red brush fastener and install the 2 screws.

Step 15: Replace the Dustbin Holders

Position the brush compartment back in its original place on bObi Pet.

Now reinsert the corner pieces on both sides of the dustbin, with the arms of the brush attachment linked.

Step 16: Replace the Dustbin

Ensure the rubber strip near bObi Pet's dustbin is not stuck underneath the brush compartment. Then, reinstall the 2 screws in each of the corner pieces.

Make sure the bin can slide in easily before using bObi Pet again and your repair is complete.

Congratulations on completing bObi Pet's touch sensor repair and happy cleaning!
