Introduction: Replace BObi Pet's Wall Sensors

About: Hi, I am bObi -the latest addition to the bObsweep family! My fiancé Bob and I, love to clean! We are obsessed with making your floors shiny and dust-free. Enjoy my instructables guides and feel free to come …

Before starting, it's important to know exactly which sensor is in need or repair. You can refer to bObi Classic's check up test as it is also applicable to bObi Pet:

Then you'll need a Phillips head screwdriver and the appropriate wall sensor to start this repair.

Step 1: Turn BObi Pet Off

Before we get started, turn bObi Pet OFF and flip her over onto a flat surface.

Next, remove bObi Pet's dustbin. Grip the small tab on the back of the bin, and pull to remove.

Step 2: Remove the Front Wheel

Grip the front wheel and pull straight up, using the screwdriver for leverage.

The wheel will pop out and you will see two screws beneath it. There is a larger screw set deeper in the wheel compartment.

Use the screwdriver to remove it. (Highlighted Blue)

Remember to keep all screws and parts removed from bObi Pet safely aside during the repair. They may be needed for re-assembly.

Step 3: Remove the Dustbin Holders

Remove the screws on both sides of bObi Pet’s dustbin. Then, remove the corner pieces that were held down by the screws.

Grip the brush compartment and pull down to reveal two screws on a red fastener. Remove them with the screwdriver.

Step 4: Remove the Brush Compartment

Pull the brush compartment up until the fastener is freed from bObi Pet. Then, detach the brush compartment's circuit plug and set it aside.

Remove the four screws located beneath the brush compartment.

Step 5: Remove the Dustbin Fastener

Remove the two screws on the dustbin’s red fastener.

Remove the fastener and set it aside for reassembly. The cover is no longer secured, so carefully flip bObi Pet onto her wheels.

Step 6:

Step 7: Detach the Cover

Lift the cover to reveal the main board underneath.

Remove the two circuit plugs connecting the lid to the mainboard. (Highlighted Blue)

bObi Pet's cover is entirely separated. Put the bottom half of bObi Pet aside, and you can start the wall sensor replacement.

Step 8: Nudge the Sensor Out of Place

You should have already determined which sensor needs to be removed using bObi Pet's Check Up Test. The side it is on during the test will now be the opposite, since bObi Pet's lid is flipped.

In this case, bObi Pet's left-most sensor is being replaced. In the Check Up Test, it would correspond to the number 1 on the remote.

Once you're sure you have the right sensor, nudge it out of its place on the bumper.

Step 9: Unplug the Sensor

Now you can see which wire needs to be removed from the circuit board. The outermost sensor on either side plugs in to the middle of the row closest to it.

The two sensors closer to the middle of the bumper plug in to the top of their respective rows.

The central sensor plugs in at the top of the circuit board, separate from either row.

Unplug the appropriate circuit plug depending on the sensor in need of repair in your case.

Step 10: Detach the Sensor

Feed the wiring of the sensor out from underneath the hooks along the inside edge of bObi Pet's bumper. (Highlighted Green)

Pull the sensor and its wires out of the opening on the bumper to detach completely.

Step 11: Place the New Sensor on BObi Pet

Place the new sensor's circuit plug end through the space in the bumper.

Then place the sensor in the opening and push gently until it locks onto bObi Pet's bumper.

Step 12: Plug in the New Sensor

Feed the wires back through the hooks along the bumper as you work your way to the circuit board in the middle.

Attach the circuit plug securely in the appropriate space and double check that all wires on the bumper are neatly tucked under the hooks.

When finished, you're ready to start closing bObi Pet.

Step 13: Connect the New Cover

Attach the two circuit plugs from bObi Pet's cover back onto her main board.

The yellow-wired plug connects to the right side of the mainboard. (Highlighted Yellow)

The white-wired plug on bObi Pet’s lid connects to the middle of the mainboard. (Highlighted White)

Step 14: Align the Cover's Edges

Lay down bObi Pet's cover and line up the edges precisely.

While holding bObi Pet's top and bottom together, carefully flip her over onto a flat surface.

Step 15: Replace the Front Wheel

Reinstall the front wheel’s screw.

Then, place the front wheel on top and firmly push down to secure it.

Step 16: Secure BObi Pet's Cover

Replace the dustbin’s red fastener and install its two screws.

Install the four larger screws in the space beneath the brush compartment.

Step 17: Replace the Main Brushes

Plug in the brush compartment.

Then, replace its red brush fastener and install the two screws.

Step 18: Replace the Dustbin Holders

Position the brush compartment back in its original place on bObi Pet.

Now reinsert the corner pieces on both sides of the dustbin, with the arms of the brush attachment linked.

Step 19: Replace the Dustbin

Ensure the rubber strip near bObi Pet's dustbin is not stuck underneath the brush compartment. Then, reinstall the two screws in each of the corner pieces.

Make sure the bin can slide in easily before using bObi Pet again and you're finished replacing bObi Pet's wall sensor.

Congratulations and happy cleaning!
