Savor the flavors of fall with this cozy dinner recipe, Take the chill out of a crisp autumn night with one of this super easy dinner...

Over the years, I have made smothered pork chops in the oven, but with the slow cooker, it couldn’t be easier, just put ingredients in the slow cooker, set it, and forget it until dinnertime. The results, pork chops that are ultra-satisfying in taste and smell great as they cook.

So, whether you've been working all day or running around with the children, nothing beats coming home to a dinner that's pretty much ready to serve when you walk in the door!!

Step 1: Ingredients:

Ingredients:

1 pkg. pork chops (I use thick cut and boneless)

1 can Cream of Chicken Soup

1 envelope Lipton Recipe Secrets packet of Dry Onion soup mix, or Onion/Mushroom soup mix

1 pkg. dry pork gravy mix (I used McCormick brand)

1.5 cups chicken broth or chicken stock

Salt and pepper, to taste

Step 2: Directions:

Spray the inside of the crock with nonstick spray. Remove the pork chops from the refrigerator and bring to room temperature before browning.

Step 3:

Lightly season both sides of the chops with salt and pepper.

Step 4:

In a medium skillet, add canola oil with 2 tbsp. unsalted butter, heat skillet until a droplet of water added to the pan is hot enough and the water sizzles.

Step 5:

Carefully add the pork chops chops to skillet and brown evenly on both sides.

Step 6:

Add the browned pork chops to crock pot.

Step 7:

If the skillet isn't big enough to fit all the pork chops, don't crowd them. Brown in in 2 batches.

Step 8: Sometimes:

Started preparing dinner at 6:15 AM this morning, I started with browning the thick pork chops... and of coarse, as I was flipping over the chops, some grease decided to jump out of the skillet. Luck me, good size burn now in return between thumb and pointer finger OUCH!

Step 9:

In a medium bowl combine the can of cream of chicken soup and chicken stock (broth). Mix together until creamy.

Step 10:

Add the chicken soup, dry onion soup mix, pork gravy mix, mixing to combine.

Step 11:

Pour mixture evenly over the top of the pork chops.

Step 12:

Put lid on crock pot, then set the timer setting to cook on LOW for 8 hours.

Step 13:

I know not to open the lid during cooking because the slow cooker loses heat, and it takes a while to heat back up. But I turn pork chops over and scrap the sides of the crock 5 hrs. in to the cooking time.

Note: If you really NEED open the crock lid for “add-ins”, keep it as brief as possible.

Step 14:

When done cooking, most crock pots will automatically switch to the "WARM" setting, so you don't have to worry cold foods if you're not home on time!!
