Alright, so you're having trouble styling a wig that has impossible spikes to it? Fear not, you don't have to worry about your teased and hairsprayed wig falling apart here if done correctly.

The wig I'm making here, is Arthur from the Mystery Skulls animation for reference.

Step 1: Materials

Let's get started with what you'll need:

-Wig
-Wig Head
-Pins
-Hot Glue gun
-Writing Utensil
-Fabric (matching wig color)
-Craft Foam (also matching)
-Hair spray
-Hair clips
-Cutting Shears
-Hair wax
-Tacky Glue (lots of it)
-(Not shown but self explanatory) Comb

Step 2: Wig Cutting

See that fabulous wig you got there? Cut it off, and I mean cut a lot of it off.

You're going to need a medium length wig for styling short spikes, depending on hot long the spikes are, you'll need a longer wig.
But you have to save those pieces of hair and put them in a plastic bag, make sure they're even and not all over the place.

Step 3: Building It Up

Next, you're going to build up your wig with craft foam, simply construct triangles (using paper first, then on the craft foam) and see how they look on your wig.

The fabric will be used for the hairline (measure your head for this) and hot glue it on.

Step 4: Placing the Hair

Let me tell you- Tacky glue is amazing for wig styling, because not only can it hold really well, it dries clear! (useful for any project) And this step requires a lot of patience.. because you need to add pieces of hair onto each spike.

Spread Tacky glue onto the craft foam, and small dabs on the tips of the hair weft, squeeze off any excess and smooth it as much as possible.

Then just place onto the craft foam spike where you spread the glue and there you go! Rinse and repeat for every spike until the craft foam is hardly visible.

Step 5: Onto the Wig

Now that you've got every piece done, pin your spikes onto the areas of the wig.
Use your hair clips to separate as much much hair away from the spikes as possible, once you know where the spikes will be placed, hot glue it directly onto the wig.

Now you can start the core part of wig styling...
Which is also the longest, most tedious part-

Step 6: Tacky Glue Hell

Slowly yet surely, you'll start pulling parts of the wig back to cover any trace of the craft foam- it's a pretty long process so make sure you take breaks in between.

Then as a finishing touch, the fabric making up the hairline of the wig will be covered in extra hair wefts. To smooth everything out, use hair wax to pat down any miscellaneous pieces of hair, and hairspray to seal.
