Introduction: Starfish Charm Earrings

A few years ago I was given several packets of earring wires along with an assortment of other beading supplies but I never got round to using them. When I saw the earring contest on Instructables I decided to dig out my supplies and give it a go.

I've never actually made earrings before but now that I've started I have so many ideas :)

EDIT: Just realized that I'm not actually eligible to enter the earring contest

:\

oh well

Step 1: Supplies

You will need;

-Two starfish charms (Purchased from https://www.etsy.com/shop/nicoledebruin?ref=l2-shopheader-name )

-Two 5mm jump rings

-Two key rings, (2.5cm diameter)

-Two 5mm bails

-Coloured copper wire, 22GA ( about 1.2m for each earring)

-Two earring wires

-a pair of rosary pliers

Step 2: Wrap the Keyring

Start wrapping the wire around the key ring. It doesn't have to be very neat as you will be adding another layer of wire on top of this. It is easier to work with shorter lengths of wire, around 20cm is a good length.

Step 3: Second Layer of Wire

Wrap a second round of wire around the key ring, using the pliers to tuck in the ends of the wire. This is where you can try to fill the gaps in the first layer if you want to.

Step 4: Add the Charm and Bail

You will need a bout 15cm of wire. Loop it twice through the top of the charm and around the key ring. Then place the bail upside down above the charm and loop the wire through and around the bail a few times, using the pliers to tuck in the ends of the wire..

Step 5: Add the Earring Wire

Finally, attach the earring wire to the bail using the jump ring. Do the same for the other side and you have a pair of starfish earrings.
