Introduction: Wooden Center Piece With Candles

The materials that are used in this instructable are:

1. wooden log

2. ax

3. band saw

4. sander

5. drill

6. 1 1/2 inch spade bit

7. clamps

Please use caution in this project because power tools are used in this project.

Step 1: Find a Log

The first step is to find the size log that you would like to use for your table center piece. This can be any type of wood.

Step 2:

Next step is to cut the log in half with an ax. Pick the half that you would like most to be on your table.

Step 3: Band Saw

Take your halved log and use the band saw to create a flat bottom for the log to be able to sit on the table firmly. Also, cut a strip across the top of the log as well to create a flat be to drill into. The cut does not have a definite size, but just be sure the candles can fit in the cut. Leave most of the wood uncut to have the rustic look of the ax cut. For the bottom cut run a sander across the cut to smooth it out for sitting on the table.

Step 4: Final Step

Your final step is to hole the log for the candles. Take the 1 1/2 inch spade bit and drill four holes about 1/2 an inch deep into the log. Be sure to clamp the log to a flat surface to make sure it stays put when you start to drill to get a clean cut. For the candles I use the 1/2 inch circular dinner candles to out inside.
