Introduction: Working Tiny Fan With a Power Wall Plug

About: Im Eric Dirgahayu , im a robot maker at diy project

This Tiny fan functions the same as the original fan, the fan speed can be felt even though the size is so tiny and the funny thing, this fan has a cable with an electrical plug that must be plugged into the wall plug to function.

Supplies

Actually this fan is made from scrap, so I can't give the purchase link for a supplies.

  • motor dc mini coreless
  • big and little dring straw
  • small cabletransparent hard plastic
  • card scrap plastic
  • bottle cap
  • metal wire
  • micro switch on/off
  • 3,7 battery
  • male & female pin connector
  • soldering tools
  • Glue

Step 1: Making a Head Fan

This step you need:

  • coreless motor,
  • big straw
  • little straw
  • super glue
  • soldering

First you enter the motor into a large straw, it is very fit in size, measure the length according to the length of the motor, then cut it according to the size of the motor, adding more space to install the cap, after that you need a small straw for the fan head pole, measure and cut approximately according to the height of the fan you want to make, don't glue it first, before you have to connect the motor cable if your motor cable is short, connect the motor with a cable that is at least 20cm long, strengthen it with solder

After you connect your motor cable, put the motor back into the big straw by first entering the abel into the small straw. look at the picture, strengthen it using super glue, with a plastic card, cut a round shape according to the size of a large straw as the back cover of the motor, fix it with glue. the head of fan is ready.

Step 2: Making a Base

This step you need :

  • bottle cap
  • cutter
  • micro swicth on/off
  • soldering
  • super glue

Take the bottle cap, then cut the bottom of the cap at an angle so that if it is placed on the floor, the top surface of the bottle will look slanted, use a cutter to cut it carefully when doing this, then also make a hole, there are 3 holes that must be made, the first hole is for the on/off switch, made in the shape of a box, the size is adjusted to the on/off switch, the second hole is slightly at the back of the lid, the round shape is the size according to a small straw for the fan neck, the third is a round hole small just behind the side of the bottle for wire.

In this step you need to connect the wire to the micro switch on/off by using a soldering iron. don't forget to install the fan head and attach the on/off switch to the base that has been made.(wiring schematic on pic gallery)

Step 3: Making Fan Blade

This step you need :

  • transparent hard plastic
  • cable tube
  • plastic tube (i make from plastic gear pic.2-3)
  • super glue
  • cutter

Now we will make the fan blades, first time we make the fan blane center, because the motor shaft is very small so I use a cable tube to fit enough on the plastic tube, The plastic tube that I use is from pieces of used gear, only taking the tube part.

We will make fan blades with thin transparent mica plastic, before that, first make a fan pattern on paper, then cut and draw the pattern on plastic, make 3 and cut, make sure everything the same size. then pitch the blades at a slight angle, remember the fan rotation is clockwise, so don't put the blade tilt wrong, make sure when the fan rotates the wind will point forward, if it's upside down the wind will point backwards, but don't worry if it's upside down and not can be corrected, we can change the direction of rotation of the fan in the end, install the every bade using super glue, make sure it's really strong.

Step 4: Painting

This step you need :

  • spray paint

Before continuing with the next physical creation, we first paint what we have made, first remove the on/off switch and cover the front side of the motor with tape, before painting, choose the paint you want

Step 5: Make Safety Brackets

This step you need :

  • wire
  • glue
  • soldering tools

Fans usually use brackets for security and we will also make them, we use little wire, but first make an cyrcle pattern that is larger than the circumference of the fan blade, you just need to leave the fan blade free and draw the cyrcle on paper, after the paper pattern is finished, make a circle using wire, make sure the shape is correct, use solder to unite the wire into a complete ring, make 2 pieces, also make a small circle with a size larger than the large straw made for the fan head earlier, use solder to make a small ring, make 2 pieces.

Cut the wire along 1.5 cm or adjust to the size of the circle you made, cut as many as 24 pieces, Connect the wires by attaching one side to the large wire loop and the other side to the small wire loop, so that it will form a parabola, for the front bracket you need 16 wires, and the back 8 wires. use a soldering iron to attach it, or use super glue, I partially used wire wires to have some color. look to the picture. for the back you need to add a medium ring for the center back of the fan bracket.

When finished you can attach it to the fan head by using glue.and on the small circle on the front you can attach a small round piece of paper to close it.

Step 6: Making a Electric Wall Plug

This step you need :

  • male female pin conector
  • plastic card
  • battery
  • cardboard
  • gue
  • soldering tool

This is the last step, we will make a pair of electric plugs, make a female plug in the fan, we use the male pin connector cut 2 pins, and solder to the fan wire, then cut the used plastic card about 5mm wide, cut it like an electric plug handle, make 2 pieces, stick them on the top and bottom of the connector pin connection, then cut lengthwise 2mm wide pieces of plastic, it is used to cover the side of the plug handle, paste it with glue, remove color from the plastic, or if necessary you can paint it.

Now we make a male wall plug, we will use a male pin, cut only 2 pins, save the pin first because we will make the plug case using a plastic card, cut a small square of about 1cmx1cm, make curves in all corners, make 2 pieces, take one for the cut and also take the male plug that we made earlier, paste the two plug pins to the middle of the oblong piece, mark the two pin points. the hole in the part that has been marked earlier is larger than the size of the pin, if it has been lubricated, try to insert the male pin there, make sure it can go in and out easily. if it's fixed, insert the pin and take the female pin and now plug it from the back of the plastic piece into the pin that penetrated, hold it and glue the female pin from the back, make sure it really sticks, if it's stuck you remove the male plug pin, and let the female pin go stuck to the piece of plastic earlier, in the second square piece, just punch a hole in the center to form a circle with a diameter of 6 cm, or make sure the male plug body goes into the hole. if it goes in, paste it into a piece that has been pinned before. see picture for details.

Lastly take the cardboard and make a hole to install the female plug, let's say the cardboard is a wall. see picture, and attach the battery by soldering to the pin female from the back.

Step 7: You Have Done

This step you need enjoy...:D finish, try this fan it works fine.

Thankyou

Erik
