Urgent help regarding arduino duemilanove

I Have a arduino duemilanove board with the shield given on this link http://www.embeddedmarket.com/products/Sensor-and-Motor-Shield-for-Arduino/to my surprise there are four pins instead of three to connect the sensor ... so i thought to connect my SHARP IR sensor NOT on the shield but on the board ..so i bent the analog 0 pin so that it may not enter the shield.I gave the sensor by taking 5v parallel from the shield and connected it to the bent analog pin no. 0But when i took itz reading on serial monitor they arent coming as per the sensor senses...But after removing the shield and connecting the sensor in the same way , the sensor gives perfecly right valuesSo can u please help me and tell me what is the problem here..?

See.. first without the sheild i connected the sharp ir sensor in this way:
Vo pin to the ANALOG 0 pin
and gave 5v from the board itself.
But afterwards i bent the analog 0 pin outwards as u can see in the pic
And this time the sheild is also connected now when i take 5v from the board in parallel and connect sharp to the bent pin the readings are not shown properly on the serial monitor.
that the case..
hope u'll help me.
I've never worked with this version of the Arduino or that shield or sensor but here's a couple of thoughts and questions.
Are you taking the parallel 5v line off of the shield or off of the main board? You may need to take the power for the sensor off of the shield.
It's possible that the main board doesn't have enough current capacity to drive both the shield and the sensor at the same time. What are you powering the main board with?
Finally I would suggest going over to the forums and community at www.Arduino.cc That's the official Arduino website.

i was taking supply parallel from the board.
now i'll try with yor suggestion.
thanks for the help.

Can you upload a picture of both the failed and working setups? I'm struggling to fully understand what you're doing.

hey bro i've put up what you asked... now please try to help me..

You hook the 4 wire connector on the sensor to the 4 wire connector on the shield, with the (apparently) included 4-conductor wire.

I dont know. Try ordering connectors free from these sites. http://www.ladyada.net/library/procure/samples.html
