immediate contest entry?

Is it possible to change the moderated contest entry process? I think it would be better if we could enter a contest on a probationary basis when we post an instructable. That way viewers can vote on recent instructables. If the instructable doesn't meet the contest criteria then the entry is cancelled, no harm, no foul. It seems that there are times when contest acceptance is slower (weekends).

We go through contest entry queues multiple times daily. The people behind the scenes aren't robots, so take the weekend to recuperate and relax. Luckily, we also sometimes do work over weekends, too!

I get that they last weeks. If an instructable ends up being featured and gets lots of page views quickly, viewers, don't have a chance to vote when they see the instructable for the first time.
I'm not sure the voting really matters anyway. If you read the rules, on all of the contests it states:

"THE NUMBER OF VOTES EACH ENTRY RECEIVES ON THE SPONSOR SITE IS NOT ONE OF THE CRITERIA USED BY JUDGES TO SELECT THE WINNER(S)."

I used to be kind of stuck on how the delay effects voting too, until I read that.
That only applies tl the final judging - votes get you into the final 25 (ish), from which the judges select the winners. The number of votes does not affect the ranking within the finalists - the overall winner could as easily be #24 in the votes as #1.

Wow! I missed that. Thanks.

Since most contests last weeks, then have time for voting after that, I don't think a few hours' delay make much difference.

If it was just a few hours it probably would be okay. But, the contest entries for the last two instructables I posted, have taken 2 days for 5 entries, and 4 days for the toy contest entry.

I get you're bothered, and I'll mention this idea to HQ for you, but I'm not sure it really makes a difference.
