Introduction: Dividing Fractions

One thing you need to know to understand my Instructable is that the numerator is the number on top and the denominator is the number on the bottom.

Step 1: Starting Off

we need a question to get started, so lets go with a simple one.

Step 2: Reciprical

The first thing you need to do is make a reciprical by flipping the second fraction.

Step 3: Multiply

Now you need to change the division sign into a multiplication sign.

Step 4: Finish

Now all you have to do is multiply across, so in this case you do 7 x 4 (numerators) which goes over 5 x 8 (denominators)

Step 5: Easier

One way to make these questions easier is to make the fractions lower. To do so, you have to be able to divide the numerator and the denominator by the same number. In this case, you can divide both the numerator and the denominator of the second fraction by 4. Then just continue as normal.

Step 6: But What If...

What if you have a mixed number?????? Simple, make it into an improper fraction. To do this, you have to multiply the whole number by the denominator, then add the result to the numerator. In this case, that would be 1 x 5 = 5 + 7 = 12, so the new improper fraction would be 12 over 5. then just continue as normal. I hope I helped, and thanks for viewing my instructable.
