This one is very COSTLY when attempted on large windshields, anywhere in the Canadian northern regions! This was just another typically painful, teenage experience I had to learn the hard way!! LOL

For what it's worth, I poured hot water on my frosted over windshield once, and I got away with it. That said, this should indeed be done with care, with liberal use of the cool button. Also perhaps start far away and slowly warm the window.

I thnk this works, but you need to be careful about uneven/extreme heating of the glass. If one spot gets too hot, the window will crack. I made this mistake by putting a light bulb too close to a window once.
