Introduction: Colourful Storage Baskets

About: Easy and affordable DIY projects and ideas.

Have a little fun with Rust-Oleum 2X UltraCover spray paint and turn plain white baskets into colourful storage containers for a child's bedroom. There are so many ways to use Rust-Oleum spray paints, and so many different products in the range. I like finding fun ideas for using Rust-Oleum spray paint to dress up plain and boring items. These storage baskets only come in white (blah!) and I thought it would be nice to pretty them up with Rust-Oleum 2X satin sweet pea and add some colourful painted flowers.

You will find these baskets at many discount home stores . The plastic flowers (and cap) are cut from the base of a 2 litre and 1 litre cold drink bottle.

HERE'S HOW:

1. Cover your work surface with newspaper to protect from over-spray. Shake the can well and hold about 30 centimetres away from the project. You only need to apply a light coat of paint for the first coat and then touch this up with another coat once dry.

GOOD TO KNOW Work outdoors or in a well-ventilated space when using spray paint

2. You also need to spray the plastic flowers and cap. Use contrasting colours if you want to go bold, or choose subtle shades for a softer finished effect. We used Rust-Oleum 2X UltraCover gloss key lime and grape.

3. Let the paint dry completely before using a hot glue gun to attach a cap to each flower. The assembled flowers are then glued onto the front of the basket. As easy as that...!
