Step 4: Decoration

Picture of Decoration
  1. In order to decorate your trees, mix the shredded coconut with the green food colouring. You might have to add a little bit of water should they not mix well.
  2. Mix the powdered sugar with the lemon juice and a bit of water and add a few drops of green food colouring.
  3. Use a paint brush to apply the frosting and roll your trees in the shredded coconut.
  4. You can of course use different coloured frosting to decorate your trees. Enjoy and have a very Merry Christmas.

these look really cool, but is there a substitue for coconut for the leaves of the trees? neither my wife nor I care for coconut and I wanted to make this for her family holiday party.
Or maybe just green decorating sugar? Then they'd be all sparkly.

Going to do these this afternoon. Wish my grandkids were here to help. That would be a blast.

To luvfunstuff, #9 is the frosting. Great idea, you could build a whole forest, how fun!

I am confused... You say, "use a paint brush to apply the frosting". What frosting? Am I missing something? I do not see any instructions about making frosting or see any frosting listed in the ingredients.
I was a little confused about that, too, but I think it's #9 in the directions above.
Oh, there you go... answered just below mine. :-p
Step 9 is the frosting.
9. Mix the powdered sugar with the lemon juice and a bit of water and add a few drops of green food colouring.

Love this! I must try these!! Might even try it with cake batter poured into the parchment cones!
For the vanilla pod, did you scrape out the inside? Is that what "mark of a vanilla pod" means?
