How to Create an Online Classified Ad

Got something that you think you have to part with? One way to promote the things you want to sell is by posting a classified ad, and today, using the internet is an easy, effective, and almost always free way to do so.

In this Instructable, I'll guide you through the steps to creating a good, simple classified ad using Kijiji, my favorite classified ad service.

You may want to know why I'm creating an ad anyway. Unfortunately, my mom has discovered that she has an allergy to our puppy, Cocoa. We've decided to post a classified to find a good family in our area who can take care of her.

Step 1 Materials

You'll Need:

1. A camera to take pics of what you're aiming to sell
2. A Kijiji account although not necessary; I chose this option because I plan using the site to post more ads in the future
3. Something to sell, of course :]

Thanks! I think its my best one so far: fungus amugus featured me :DDDD Unfortunately, we have to sell her because my mom has discovered that she has an allergy to her. Before we bought her, we did a lot of research about Chihuahuas, and read claims that said that they were good for people with airborne allergies ( I don't know how this works, but we read it in a LOT of different places). We hoped that it would help my mom and brother's allergy problems; it helped my brother, but my mom got worse :[

Cool! And that's really sad. I wish I had a doggie. My puppy died about 2 years ago I think. He was very young. :-(

I'm sorry to hear that ;[ It really stinks to have to say good-bye to a loved one, whether they be a family member, friend, or even a pet.

In a case like this, adding a reason for the sale can be useful! "We love her, but my mom is allergic" can be a compelling story; otherwise a potential buyer may think you're selling because she's a problem (chewer, too loud, etc).

Well-done Instructable, Labot2001. While I read through this, I realized that, while other people have written extensively about how to write different types of letters, reports, speeches, etc., I have never seen any kind of walkthrough for writing a classified ad. This was a great idea. I'm curious, though, why you went with eBay's knockoff of craigslist instead of using the original craigslist.

Thanks! Actually, I went with Kijiji becuase I found it through our local paper's website. I initially tried craigslist, but they prohibit the sale of pets on their site.
