Is your tub filler loose? Wobbly? Wondering how to tighten it up? Never fear, with a simple hex key (Allen wrench) and a few minutes you can have your tub filler tightened in a jiffy. All you need is a good set of hex keys.

Step 1: Locate the Set Screw

The tub filler is held in place by a set screw. This screw will be covered by a small round plug. On the Moen pictured, it is on the back of the filler towards the bottom.

Step 2: Find the Right Key and Tighten

Different brands of tub filler can potentially use different sized hex keys, in this case, a 5/32" hex key is needed. Most set screws use hex screw heads, so with a little experimentation you should be able to find the right one if you don't have a parts list. If you do have a parts list, just look for "set screw" and it should indicate the correct size.

Once you have located the right hex key and have it inserted into the set screw, simply turn clockwise to tighten. Avoid the temptation to over-tighten. Just tighten it enough to get rid of the wobble.

Step 3: Replace Cover

Once you have the set screw tightened and those pesky wobbles are gone, simply replace the set screw cover and you are done!
