Introduction: How to Make Handmade Night Lamps.

About: Light of my life.

Hello, fellow DIY enthusiasts :)

In this instructable I will try to show and explain how to make your own unique night lamp.
As you already know I like making lamps and in this tutorial I will try to go through the steps of how to create something beautiful.
I did those four lamps simultaneously, and you will notice that the patter is almost identical, the difference is mainly the form of the shade.

For this project I will be using:

materials

wood slats
nepalese paper
glue
light bulb
wires
bulb socket
switches
plugs
screws
contact paper

tools

drill
various drill bits
clamps
sandpaper (100, 250, 400)
paint
varnish
screwdriver
ruler
scissors

Step 1: First Things First.

Prepare the materials you will need.
Measure and cut all materials at one. This will make it easier for you, so that you will have them all ready, you save time, you will have only one mess to clean( it tends to get really messy when you have to cut and sand, etc).

Step 2: Preparing the Base, Column/stem.

Here you can improvise by using your imagination and the materials you have at hand. You can make it in different forms and shapes, you can smoothen the edges, cut initials, etc.

Step 3: The Shade.

I am sorry that I don't have pictures of "before" and "after painting" for some of the shades.
I have always wanted to make a lamp in blue and white, and I am glad I finally got the chance to make one.

By far the most difficult part is to measure the angle at which to cut the sides of the shade so that they can fir perfectly.
I hope that you can understand how I do it by taking a look at the pictures below.

Step 4: Finishing the Shade and Making Link to the Column.

By now you should be done choosing the pattern, color... of the paper you would use. Take the correct measurements, cut, apply glue and attach to the shade.

Step 5: Attaching the Base to the Column and the Column to the Shade Holder.

This is a very crucial part of the project. Make sure you have something to measure the angle where the base and the column meet is 90 degrees. Use you screwdriver and screws for wood to attach all of the columns to the base.

Step 6: Wiring.

Always be very careful when you do this part. Working with high voltage can be very dangerous, so make sure you know what you are doing.

Step 7: Almost There.

This is how you connect the shade to the base.

Step 8: Enjoy Your Product.

There you have it.
The best part is when you turn the switch "on" and enjoy the moment of creation ;)
