Picture of Installing Hackintosh/OSx86 10.4.8 on Your PC!

Update: I got my new laptop and i'm making an instructable for 10.5.2, look for it within the next few days.

You need:
-a pc with windows xp or vista preinstalled
-"JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3" dvd/iso Fixed Link (please seed when done)
-if you have an intel processer with SSE3 (see step 2) then use this. (smaller file) (please seed when done)
->20 gig hard drive
-cpu-z (
-other software (as needed)
-experience w/ computers

Step 1: Cheak Compatability & Backup...

Picture of Cheak Compatability & Backup...

Run cpu z and look in the middle for sse2 if it has this you will be able to install osx.
if you have sse3 then that is even better.

back all important data, have xp/recovery disk handy.

Step 2: Partition

Picture of Partition

(You May Lose Data In This Step)
The os x dvd does not have a very good partitioning tool. You need another partitioning tool. Use whatever you like. Partitioning is simple, you should be able to find instructions on hoe to partition.

You need:
Your XP/Vista partition
An os x partition Fat32
(Optional but recomended) an os share partition. Fat32

Step 3: Boot the DVD

Picture of Boot the DVD

Put the JaS dvd in the drive (yes, finally), boot the computer and hope for the best. Press any key and you will get a bunch of text, and more text. Then the text will change and you get 10x more text than before. Just wait until you are asked for your language. Once you see "welcome to JaS..." you go up to the top of the screen, click utilities, and click disk utility. You need to select the partition you made earlier for os x and erase it as The mac os filesystem (journaled), aka the top one. Name it somthing that you would like to see on your desktop because it will be there. Once it is formatted, close the disk utility and continue through the prompts.

Pics are from phone. Blurry...

Step 4: Select What to Install.

Picture of Select What to Install.

Just select what you want. Or need for your hardware. You should select login window 4.4? in the second to last catagory. Other than that only select what you need for your hardware. Finally click install.

Step 5: Selet What to Install...

Step 6: Restart

Picture of Restart

when installing is dome it will restart your computer. It should load the darwin boot loader. (press f8 to start windows or any other os'es) It will start os x and you need to jump and yell yipee! Just follow the prompts to set up os x.

Step 7: Edit the Bootloader

Picture of Edit the Bootloader

Go to (while in os x) your mac partition, applications, utilities, terminal.
paste "sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/" (without quotes)

enter your password, it will be hidden.

add these four lines if they do not already exist

<key>Quiet Boot</key>

the file should now read:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "$
<plist version="1.0">
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<key>Boot Graphics</key>
<key>Quiet Boot</key>

press ctrl+o to save and ctrl+x to exit.

Now when you start you will be present with a list of your operating systems. Just select what you want to boot.

how can i format? also nice to tell that.

hacker3455 (author)2009-06-30

so are you saying that if I follow these steps and use "JaS 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3" dvd/iso that i could install OSX onto my AMD Athlon computer?

jmilan0302 (author)hacker34552015-06-25

I think a Athlon is too old. Which Athlon is it? Is it 64-bit? If so, you can try Kalyway 10.5.

Xap (author)hacker34552009-11-19

you should be able to if it supports sse2

floryzzz (author)2010-03-04

 Is this good to?

jmilan0302 (author)floryzzz2015-06-25

Try Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

knaan (author)floryzzz2011-06-11

tell me is you install mac os on your system because i have the same processor like you. so if you read this then please reply me .

mhkabir (author)floryzzz2010-03-07

 Of course

Most new mobos support SSE 3, and judging by the processor, It;s an new one.

Arbitror (author)2009-05-17

Umm... So, which .iso do I download?

I like my new computer!

KhoiS (author)Arbitror2015-05-24

Don't use Tiger with that PC, try Yosemite or Maverics

budabob07 (author)Arbitror2010-10-16

i know this is a little late but get the link that is the furthest down in the intro (3rd bullet point down). btw nice computer

alltootechnical (author)Arbitror2010-10-04

I like my new computer, LOL!

redfox280 (author)Arbitror2009-11-19

I wish i had your PC...

PhanethP (author)2014-11-14

Can I install Hackintosh/OSx86 10.4.8 on my PC?

*RAM : 1GB

* HDD: IDE 250GB

KhoiS (author)PhanethP2015-05-24

Yes, you can

MirwaisH made it! (author)2014-09-30

can i run hacintosh with this cpu?

JoshuaD5 (author)MirwaisH2014-11-19

You can run Yosemite on that CPU. Tiger is pretty obsolete these days.

Let me know if you need a Tutorial.

KhoiS (author)JoshuaD52015-05-24

Yeah,i got a laptop with core i5 but still don't know why it didn't work with Yosemite

MirwaisH (author)2014-09-30

MazďákĎ made it! (author)2014-08-10

thanks it work on my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L1300 Celeron M 1.30GHZ,1GB ram,20GB HDD,

erikals (author)2009-12-20

i have a 2nd hand hp pavilion ze4200 laptop that runs xp, is it possible to run mac os x 10.2 on that?

epicnoobpwn (author)erikals2011-04-23

No. Mac OS X 10.3 and below only support Power PC CPUs. Tiger is the earliest version of OS X to support Intel CPUs.

junits15 (author)2010-08-04

when i did this it wouldnt install :\ the spinny thing at the beginning would start and never stop

rug (author)2010-07-30

is there any mac os that i could open and run off a 2gb usb ????

junits15 (author)rug2010-08-04

no but you can legally run mac os server inside virtualbox on a windows machine, you just need a ton of ram and a really powerful processor

darkclaw42 (author)2010-03-18

Love this guide! Noticed it a little to late though.

I installed Hackintosh on a custom PC around a week or two ago. I have one problem though, the sound and internet (onboard, non-wireless) drivers dont work.Major suckage, considering I was going to use it to compose music and mix. All I really need is the sound. Would you know how to fix that?

Sponzyparadox (author)darkclaw422010-05-20

Did you check for a mac driver for your soundcard? to see if it is even Mac compatible

albylovesscience (author)2010-03-09

this can come in handy :D

redfox280 (author)2009-11-19

what if you have an AMD processor? Mine says "MMX (+), 3DNow! (+)" in CPU Z
BTW my processor is an AMD Athlon MP. AKA Thoroughbred

Xap (author)redfox2802009-11-19

your processer must support sse2 to install any version of OS X. sorry.

mossDboss (author)2008-09-08

Before any of you attempt this DO SOME RESEARCH. Check of system/hardware compatability. More than likely if you did not know about booting OSX to your PC you will not have a clue about how to manually install the proper drivers. If your monitor is ATI Mobility Ratheon 7500, you will have to manually install the drivers for it. Which means you will have to know how to use Terminal. Also, it means you will have to find the proper driver package. Booting OSX on a pc does work, but it is not as simple as just creating a partition, booting OSX. It would be great if this instructable showed how to use terminal to load drivers using terminal.

tanmanknex (author)mossDboss2009-05-26

actually it is. there's a few programs out there that call themselves one-clicks. you download it, make a partition, put the disk in, turn it off, turn it back on, and boot from disk. simple as that.

tanmanknex (author)2009-05-26

a good way to partition and get around the pesky access denied phase is to DEFRAGMENT THE FREE SPACE. it's very simple, and it works. go into a third party defragmenter (AKA defraggler) and defragment the free space under file. then go into the vista defragmenter and try again. if it doesn't work, then make sure you defragmented the entire free space so there's no fragments. it doesn't matter if you have fragments in the main drive, only the free space, though it's a good idea to defragment the used space, too.

xtaticego (author)2009-04-14

if i have mac osx disk where can i get the files to make this work.

xtaticego (author)2009-04-14

is sse2/3 only thing i need to make this work .

MrFairlady (author)2008-10-11

hey dude i have xp and i got kalyway 10.5.1 and i wanna dual boot... can i boot from a slave hard drive? (thanks for the tut but im gonna wait for the latest one)

MrFairlady (author)MrFairlady2008-10-12

Hey how much RAM do u have? i have a pentium 4 2ghz and 512 RAM and i wanna know how fast that is on 10.5.2

ProjectZro (author)MrFairlady2009-04-07

not very most macs have at least 2 Gigs of ram

conradev (author)MrFairlady2009-04-01

dual boot with what?

ProjectZro (author)MrFairlady2009-03-26

yes the boot loader will take care of that

mesostinky (author)2008-09-12

These guides all suck. How about a guide which actually takes you step by step through creating a Hackintosh with a LEGAL VERSION OF LEOPARD? Jas et al aren't rocket scientists. Instead of saying download Jas or whomever, how about a guide on making you own Jas? These Leopard DVDs have been out a long time now. Hasn't anyone anywhere written up a step by step guide with links based on starting with a legal DVD? I'd happily pay for that information.

Xap (author)mesostinky2008-09-13

you can do that if your computer supports a bunch of stuff but the only patch made to patch a real dvd was for the leopard prerelease, and most of the time it did not work. And this is legal if you have a tiger license, and an apple developer license.

ProjectZro (author)Xap2009-03-26

oh well when the macbooks price goes down ill buy it i just want it for the iphone dev kit and nothing else. they should have included a windows version

arnoldtheduck (author)mesostinky2009-02-01

The only way it would be legal if you purchased Leopard first... but I could post up an Instructable if you want. I know how.

Yerboogieman (author)mesostinky2008-12-09

Actually, apple had a Lawsuit with that guy..
