In this instructable I will show you how to easily paint a cool lightning bolt in your wall, which really looks very cool, without having any special drawing skills or experience (my drawing sucks). Oh! And it will only take less than an hour of your time!

Step 1: Materials

You will need:
- A pair of scissors
- A roll of painter's tape
- A tiny roller (if you only have a big one, you can buy a small roller for about 3$)
- A can of paint (obviously, a different colour than the colour of the wall)
- A ladder

Step 2: Deciding

Before putting a single stripe of tape in your wall, I recommend you to take paper and pencil, and think about how does a lighting looks. It helps a lot looking for pictures in the internet. You can design the whole lightning in a paper, and recreate it in your wall, or simply familiarize with the shape and then start from zero in the wall.

Step 3: Use Tape for the Shape

Start from the top to the bottom. Cut stripes of tape, and start putting them onto the wall, creating a zigzag "core", and don't forget to leave some hollow spaces at the edges, where you will make the "branches", tinier than the core, and also in zigzag. I recommend to finish first the core, leaving the empty space where the branches start, and finishing the branches at the end.

Step 4: Painting

Take your can of paint and the roller and start painting. Be careful so you don't stain the rest of the wall or the floor. If you used large painter's tape, you don't have to be so careful and you can paint it more quickly.

Step 5: Removing the Tape

Of course, before removing the tape, you'll have to let it dry. Be sure you won't need another layer of paint before removing it, there's no way back when the tape is out!

Also, the painter's tape can be very tricky. Remove it slowly, so you don't damage the wall's paint. Dont worry if you take out some of the wall's paint, you can simply repaint it with a tiny brush later, but better not having to do so!
