Introduction: Recycled Luna Lovegood Cork Necklace

I made this necklace for the release of Tales of Beedle the Bard back in December. (I went through the day dressed as Luna Lovegood because I couldnt make it to a release party) It turned out great! It is extremely easy to make and is also a great way to recycle an old wine cork.

Step 1: Materials

For this project you will need:
Siscors
Fishing Line
Old cork (as many as you want, mine only had 1 on it)
Upholsterey needle
beads (optional)

Step 2: Thread Your Needle

This step is pretty self explanitory. Thread your needle with the fishing line...

Step 3: POKE!!!!!!!!!!!

Now for the fun/frustrating part! Decide which end of the cork you want to face out, the red side, or the cork colored side. Take your needle and push it through the opposite side of the cork. This is hard!!!! In my opinion the easiest way to do this is to hold the needle point up against sonething hard and push the cork down onto it. That is the frustrating part, the fun part is watching the needle pust through the other side. Its just plain satisfying.

Step 4: Pull

Pull your needle out, this will be a little frustrating, but not nearly as bad as the last step. Congratulations you now have a cork on a string! Not a necklace yet though......

Step 5: Adding More Corks/beads

Now you can add more corks by repeating steps 3 and 4, or you can add some beads. I did neither I liked the way the cork looked by itself. The picture below is just of a string of corks, I didn't have any pictures of this step...

Step 6: Tie Off

Figure out where you want your necklace to tie off and tie a knot. I tied mine so it would fit around my neck without having to have a clasp, but you can add a clasp if you like.

Step 7: Wear It!

Wear it to movie releases, Harry Potter parties, Halloween or whenever you are feeling particularly loony. I added a picture of the cork necklace that Luna wears in the movies so you can get an idea of how you want yours to look.
