The main difference between a conventional horizontal shelves from the fact that the child sees all the books and he can choose what to read.

Polished 12 mm plywood

Step 1:

Drill a hole in the sidewall of a 4.5 mm drill bit and drill large 10-12 mm or a special cone recess countersunk screws underneath. But be careful, very large drill bit bites into a ready-made hole can be drilled or through or very deep. Should be drilled so that the screw sank by about 1 mm, if much deeper - will be weak mounting, otherwise - will not keep filling it.
