g'day I'm trying to repair an old 4 prong speaker connector 2 short 2 long 1 wire has snapped off. Is there a way to open up the Bakelite fitting to reconnect it. Do you know of any good youtube links for repairing these type of connectors.

Cheers

Sue

Hm... most of the 4 prong speaker connectors I have dealt with have had steel backshells, held in place by a single screw. Remove this screw, slide the backshell down the wire, and you should be looking at the exposed solder joints between the wires and pins. Unless you give me some pictures, it is kinda hard for me to steer you in the right direction if it is something different than I have seen before.
