You and I must think alike. I am filing a preliminary patent for my alternator which uses the bottom outside edge of the VAWT rotor as the alternator rotor. This is also an improvement because you end up with only 1 moving part and no gears or pullys. It works very well on my prototype that my instructable was written about. - Brad
