A low cost 3D printer with basic tools
A most excellently made instructable. And a most excellently made printer. I too thought about using drawer slides for rails but didn't expect much accuracy. But you've obviously proven that wrong. One nice thing about using drawer slides are that they are cheap and easy to get when they finally need replacing.
The reason I don't like wax is it has a very low melting point and if your coil gets more than just warm ... well you know what happens. If you're using the coil for RF work there will be a very slight difference in the impedance of the different materials but probably won't make any difference unless very high frequency.
I've not run into that problem yet. I did consider it in the beginning but If you dissolve as much foam as possible all of the solvent is "used up" so to speak.
