The 1 x 6 timber was exactly 32mm wider than the 2 x 4 timber so it is a very secure fit to the parts mounted to the wall. It was just by chance that's what I had. If you had wider boards you may have to cut them down to fit but for this, I didn't have to

The edging is made from solid sepele and affixed with wood glue and pin nails. So far it has held up pretty well. Adding a bin in the dust collection area is a great idea and one I will definetly implement!Thanks

Thanks Merlin. You maybe cant see form the pictures and I forgot to mention but I have a sheet of glass at the back of the dust collection area, which channels the fallen dust towards the front of the space and allows for easier collection. A dust bag is a great idea though and is something I might add in due course!

This project was done in 2006. I still use the sofa and coffee table today. I have replaced 2 parts in total. It has 'softened' at the edges but is still as structurally secure as it was the day I first built it. I have moved it, disassembled and reassembled it about 4 times in total.
